Sean Bean, Joe Elliott, Jessica Ennis-Hill and Paul Heaton are four widely known people identified as Sheffield United supporters. They make a defensible shortlist, not an official or objectively ranked top four: “most famous” has no defined measurement here, and the available sources do not compare their public recognition.
Four well-known Sheffield United supporters
The Sheffield United F.C. overview names all four as celebrity supporters. Their public profiles span film and television, music, and Olympic sport, while the detail available about their connection to the club varies.
Sean Bean
The actor, known for roles in film and television, has a particularly visible connection to Sheffield United. A supporter profile says his allegiance began in childhood and that he served as a club director for five years in the 2000s. The club overview also calls him a real-life United fan in its note about the film When Saturday Comes. A 2024 photographic feature shows Bean as a celebrity fan during the club’s 1989–90 promotion season.
Joe Elliott
Joe Elliott is the lead singer of Def Leppard. A supporter profile says he has followed the Blades since childhood and contributed to songs for When Saturday Comes, the Sheffield United film. The club overview also includes him among its celebrity supporters.

Jessica Ennis-Hill
The Olympic champion is named among Sheffield United’s celebrity supporters in the club overview. Her sporting achievements make her one of the shortlist’s most recognizable public figures, though the sources available here offer less detail about her support than they do for Bean, Elliott or Heaton.
Paul Heaton
The singer-songwriter rose to prominence with The Housemartins and The Beautiful South. In a FourFourTwo interview, Heaton recalled choosing United as a child even though his brothers supported Sheffield Wednesday. He attended his first match in 1969 and said he continued following the team after moving away from Sheffield.

Why these four—and not a definitive ranking?
The shortlist brings together people with substantial public profiles and a documented association with the Blades. The club overview supplies the four names; supporter profiles add background on Bean and Elliott, while Heaton’s interview provides his own account of choosing and following United. The evidence for Ennis-Hill’s support is more limited in these sources, so her inclusion rests on the club overview rather than a detailed account of her connection.
There is no canonical top four or published measure of celebrity fame behind the list. The names are best understood as a sourced selection, not a claim that one is more famous than another.
