For a distinctive wedding processional, choose a song that feels personal, works at a walking pace, and suits the words—or choose an instrumental arrangement if you want the melody without the lyrics. This unranked list of 35 ideas spans pop, country, rock, soul, and film music. Any can be played as its original recording, adapted acoustically, or arranged for strings. You can also walk solo or enter together; the processional does not have to follow one fixed convention.
35 wedding processional song ideas

How to choose a version that fits your ceremony
Read the lyrics, not just the title
A song’s title or melody may sound romantic while its words tell a more complicated story. Read the full lyrics before choosing a vocal recording. The Knot recommends checking the lyrics as part of selecting ceremony music: The Knot’s wedding ceremony song guidance.
Rehearse the route at a natural pace
Walk the actual aisle while listening to the version you intend to use. The Knot notes that faster music can make the entrance feel rushed, while slower music can make the walk seem longer. Check where the music begins, how long the walk takes, and whether the track has a natural ending or needs to fade.

Choose a recording, cover, or instrumental arrangement
The original recording can preserve the song’s familiar sound; an acoustic cover may suit a quieter setting; and an instrumental rendition can keep a recognizable melody while removing the vocal. If you hire a musician or string ensemble, discuss the arrangement, tempo, and how the piece should end. A ceremony musician’s guide also recommends a walkable rhythm and a distinct musical change for the final entrance: Louise Heaney’s ceremony music guidance.

Processional music is for the entrance. It is separate from music for signing or the recessional, when the couple and wedding party leave. Some ceremonies also use music while guests arrive; those moments do not need to use the same song. Function Central describes these as distinct parts of ceremony music planning: Function Central’s guide to wedding ceremony music.

Wedding music choices can be personal rather than conventional. The Mansion’s list notes that couples may walk solo or together and need not follow every traditional processional convention. Choose the entrance that fits your ceremony, then select the song and arrangement around that plan. The Mansion’s list of unique wedding songs.
