The best teen horror movies turn adolescence into more than a backdrop: friendships, rivalries, first loves, family pressure and the need to fit in help drive the danger. This ranked watchlist ranges from high-school slashers to supernatural stories and horror-comedies. The order is an editorial judgment, not a definitive or popularity-based ranking.
How this ranking works
Films rank higher when teenage characters and adolescent social worlds are central to the horror, and when the scares, craft, originality and staying power make the movie worth revisiting. The list also makes room for different tones and subgenres, from straight-faced suspense to camp and self-aware comedy. Some selections sit near the category’s edges; they qualify because teenagers materially drive the story or adolescence is central to its horror.
