This is a fancast, not news of a confirmed film or casting search. Margot Robbie has publicly said she wants a Harley Quinn–Poison Ivy story, and director Cathy Yan has expressed interest too—but neither named an actor for Ivy. The 30 choices below are editorial possibilities, judged by the kinds of intelligence, menace, comic energy and screen presence the role could use.
What is known about a Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy movie?
DC’s official page for Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) identifies Robbie as Harley Quinn and describes Harley joining Huntress, Black Canary and Renee Montoya against Roman Sionis. The film opened in U.S. theaters on February 7, 2020. Poison Ivy is not listed as part of its cast or story.
In a 2020 interview with TheWrap, director Cathy Yan said, “I would love to see Poison Ivy and I would certainly love to see the relationship between Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy.” In 2022, Robbie told ComicBook.com, “I have been pushing for that for years. I cannot tell you how hard I’ve been pushing for that. I want it too.” Asked about an actor, Robbie added, “I don’t really actually picture an actress doing it, but I agree, that would be so good.” Both comments express interest, not confirmation of a project or a casting choice.
How this fancast weighs the possibilities
Poison Ivy can be played as a brilliant scientist, a dangerous eco-radical, a seductive strategist, a caustic comic foil, or some combination. The list weighs four editorial questions: whether an actor could suggest intelligence and menace; whether she might make lively scenes opposite Robbie’s eccentric Harley; whether she could carry physical, action-heavy material; and what age range, screen persona or interpretation she could bring. These are fancast criteria, not reported studio requirements. Hair color or appearance alone is not a case for the role.

30 actresses who could play Poison Ivy
Actors for a sharp, unpredictable Ivy
- Karen Gillan: Her combination of physical confidence and dry comic delivery makes her a plausible choice for an Ivy who can spar with Harley without losing her edge.
- Megan Fox: Fox could lend Ivy a self-possessed, formidable screen presence, with the potential to make charm feel like a deliberate weapon rather than a default trait.
- Alexandra Daddario: Daddario could suit a more direct, commanding take on Ivy—one whose intensity comes from conviction and control.
- Anya Taylor-Joy: Her distinctive, watchful screen persona suggests an Ivy who is hard to read and intellectually several moves ahead.
- Samara Weaving: Weaving could bring volatility and comic bite to an Ivy whose plans become especially dangerous when Harley disrupts them.
- Victoria Pedretti: Pedretti is a possibility for a more inward and unsettling interpretation, with menace that builds through stillness rather than spectacle.
- Jodie Comer: Comer could make Ivy’s intelligence and shifting tactics central to the performance, while giving her the range to move between humor and threat.
- Elizabeth Olsen: Olsen could anchor a powerful, emotionally legible Ivy—someone whose cause feels sincere even when her methods become frightening.
- Rebecca Ferguson: Ferguson could bring cool authority to a strategist Ivy, a useful counterweight to Harley’s impulsive energy.
- Vanessa Kirby: Kirby could suggest a controlled, formidable Ivy, with room for the character’s composure to crack when Harley gets under her skin.
Actors for a forceful, action-ready take
- Florence Pugh: Pugh could play Ivy as fierce and funny at once, with an intensity that would keep a volatile relationship with Harley from becoming one-sided.
- Ana de Armas: De Armas could suit an agile, tactical Ivy whose charm conceals a practical understanding of how to win a fight.
- Jessica Chastain: Chastain could lend Ivy intellectual authority and conviction, especially in a version who treats her environmental mission as a serious political cause.
- Evan Rachel Wood: Wood could bring an unconventional, theatrical quality to Ivy, making her feel more like a singular force than a conventional villain.
- Meghann Fahy: Fahy could fit a poised, socially fluent Ivy who can use wit and composure to unsettle Harley.
- Kristen Stewart: Stewart could make Ivy’s independence and impatience with other people’s rules the center of a less polished, more rebellious portrayal.
- Rose Leslie: Leslie could lend Ivy a grounded, formidable presence, suitable for a character whose connection to nature feels elemental rather than ornamental.
- Madeline Brewer: Brewer could offer a volatile, intimate take on Ivy, emphasizing the danger beneath her connection with Harley.
- Mia Goth: Goth could make Ivy genuinely eerie and unpredictable, pushing the character toward psychological horror rather than conventional comic-book glamour.
- Emma Stone: Stone could give Ivy quick comic timing and sharp intelligence, making verbal clashes with Harley as entertaining as their physical confrontations.
Actors for commanding or unexpected interpretations
- Charlize Theron: Theron could play Ivy as a commanding strategist, with the authority to make Harley’s antics feel like a real threat to a carefully laid plan.
- Cate Blanchett: Blanchett could bring scale and eccentricity to an Ivy who sees herself as an indispensable force of nature—and expects everyone else to agree.
- Amanda Seyfried: Seyfried could explore the contrast between an outwardly approachable manner and Ivy’s capacity for calculated danger.
- Dove Cameron: Cameron could suit a more stylized, sharply comic Ivy, with enough polish to make her character’s confidence part of the performance.
- Naomi Scott: Scott could bring warmth and resolve to Ivy, grounding her fierce ideals in a recognizably human point of view.
- Eiza González: González could give Ivy a confident, physically assured presence, suited to a version who is always in control of the room.
- Lupita Nyong’o: Nyong’o could make Ivy feel intelligent, formidable and emotionally complex, with a performance that balances stillness and force.
- Zazie Beetz: Beetz could bring sly humor and relaxed confidence to Ivy, creating an appealing tonal contrast with Harley’s chaos.
- Riley Keough: Keough could lean into Ivy’s outsider quality, making her feel unpredictable and difficult to reduce to a single motive.
- Sophie Turner: Turner could play a guarded, imposing Ivy whose convictions and vulnerability emerge in tension with one another.
Which Poison Ivy interpretation fits best?
The strongest pick depends on the film’s tone rather than a single definitive resemblance to the comics. For a more comic and kinetic pairing, Emma Stone, Karen Gillan or Zazie Beetz could be interesting possibilities. A colder, more controlled Ivy points toward Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby or Jodie Comer. For a heightened or unsettling version, Cate Blanchett, Anya Taylor-Joy or Mia Goth offer different directions. Those are editorial comparisons, not reported contenders.
