Finding Nemo (2003): an animated ocean adventure
After young Nemo is captured by divers, his cautious father Marlin crosses the ocean to find him, accompanied by the optimistic Dory. Its bright undersea journey pairs family adventure with a story about facing fear and learning to let go.

Disney’s guide reports that the film won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature. It is the pick here for viewers who want animation and an upbeat adventure without stepping into a sprawling franchise.
Star Wars: A New Hope (1977): science fiction with a bigger world
The first Star Wars film released introduces the Force, lightsabers and Darth Vader. Choose it for space-faring adventure and a story that can lead into a much larger fictional universe; Disney rates it PG.
