This guide gathers 25 notable 2025 films across major streaming services, with a mix of critic-facing dramas, documentaries, franchise releases and crowd-pleasers.
The services below reflect T3’s list published on 5 December 2025, when these films were presented as available to stream. Streaming rights change and differ by country, so treat the service names as a dated guide rather than a guarantee of current access. The listing does not establish whether each title requires a subscription, rental or additional fee. NOW/Sky is especially territory-specific: the cross-check cited for its service data covers the UK and Ireland.

Netflix: thrillers, animation and returning favourites
A House of Dynamite
Kathryn Bigelow’s tense drama begins with an unattributed nuclear missile launch at the United States. T3 describes it as claustrophobic and divisive, making it a strong pick if you want a high-pressure political thriller rather than an easygoing watch.
Ballad of a Small Player
Colin Farrell plays a gambler in Macau whose debts are catching up with him. T3 calls this stylish drama a hidden gem; choose it for a character-led story in a vivid setting.
#1 Best Overall
- Runtime: 155 minutes
Frankenstein
Guillermo del Toro adapts Mary Shelley’s classic, with Oscar Isaac as Victor Frankenstein and Jacob Elordi as the creature. Its lavish approach and familiar gothic material make it a natural choice for viewers drawn to literary adaptations and monster stories.
Happy Gilmore 2
Adam Sandler returns as the older Happy, drawn back to golf, old adversaries and a tournament. It is the list’s clearest pick for a broad comedy sequel built around a returning character.
KPop Demon Hunters
This animated musical-action film from Maggie Kang draws on Korean heritage and sends its heroes into supernatural battles. T3 notes its major success on Netflix in 2025 and its singalong life in cinemas. Pick it for energetic animation and music; it is a different proposition from the list’s adult-oriented dramas and thrillers.
Steve
Cillian Murphy plays a headteacher working with students excluded from mainstream schooling. T3 singles out Murphy’s naturalistic central performance, making this a grounded drama option rather than a spectacle-led one.

The Thursday Murder Club
Chris Columbus adapts Richard Osman’s cosy-crime novel, with a British ensemble investigating a mystery. Its gentler tone makes it a good option if you want a whodunit without the intensity of a violent thriller.
Rank #2
- Runtime: 126 minutes
The Woman in Cabin 10
Keira Knightley plays a travel writer who uncovers a secret aboard a luxury cruise. Choose it for a contained mystery with a polished, unsettling setting.
Apple TV: racing spectacle, romance and crime
All of You
Brett Goldstein and Imogen Poots play university friends Simon and Laura, confronting their feelings while navigating existing relationships. This romantic drama is the list’s most direct choice for a relationship-focused evening.
Echo Valley
Julianne Moore and Sydney Sweeney lead a thriller that begins when a daughter arrives covered in someone else’s blood. T3 frames the story around victimhood, abuse and resilience, so expect darker family drama rather than a light mystery.
F1 The Movie
Brad Pitt stars in a racing drama whose appeal, according to T3, lies in its high-speed race sequences and spectacle. Pick it when pace and large-scale action matter more than an intimate, character-first story.
Highest 2 Lowest
Spike Lee’s crime drama stars Denzel Washington as music mogul David King, forced to face a ransom dilemma. It combines a high-stakes crime premise with a prominent director and lead performance.
Rank #3
- Runtime: 93 minutes
The Gorge
Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy play characters defending a monster-filled gorge. T3 positions it as spectacle-first CGI entertainment: a fit for viewers looking for fantasy action and visual effects.
Prime Video: adaptations, true stories and action
Eden
Ron Howard’s fact-based survival drama follows a group on an island, with Jude Law, Ana de Armas, Vanessa Kirby and Daniel Brühl among its cast. Its survival premise and ensemble make it a pick for viewers who want a dramatic story rooted in real events.
Hedda
Tessa Thompson stars in a modernised reimagining of Henrik Ibsen’s 1891 play. T3 notes divided critical reaction; it is the list’s theatrical-literary option, rather than a straightforward crowd-pleaser.
John Candy: I Like Me
This documentary looks at comedian and actor John Candy. T3 describes it as funny, heartbreaking and life-affirming, making it the clearest nonfiction choice in the 25-film selection.
Nickel Boys
RaMell Ross’s debut uses extensive point-of-view cinematography to tell the story of Elwood and Turner in a Jim Crow-era juvenile detention centre. T3 calls it brutal and worthwhile; its subject and approach make it a demanding drama, not a casual background watch.
Rank #4
- Official Blu-ray release of F1: The Movie (2025), capturing the high-speed intensity and emotional drama of professional Formula One racing.
- Region Free Blu-ray edition, fully compatible with Blu-ray players worldwide with no playback restrictions.
- High-definition picture and dynamic surround sound deliver immersive race sequences and cinematic visuals.
- Ideal for motorsport fans, collectors, and viewers who enjoy sports drama, competition, and real-world racing environments.
- Features detailed character-driven storytelling alongside authentic racing atmosphere, offering a complete cinematic F1 experience.
The Accountant 2
Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal return in a sequel with a more buddy-cop feel and action-forward plotting. Choose it for crime-action momentum and the pairing of its two leads.

The Roses
Benedict Cumberbatch and Olivia Colman star in a satirical black comedy about a marriage, inspired by The War of the Roses. It is a darkly comic alternative to the service’s action and true-story selections.
Warfare
Alex Garland and Iraq-war veteran Ray Mendoza made this visceral infantry-combat film based on Mendoza’s experiences. Its combat focus makes it a choice for viewers prepared for an intense war drama.

Eenie Meanie
Samara Weaving plays a reformed getaway driver pulled back into crime. T3 praises the script, action and performances, making it a crime-action pick outside the superhero franchises.
Predator: Killer of Killers
This adult animated anthology follows Predator battles across historical periods. Its animation does not make it a children’s film: the franchise premise and adult positioning signal action and violence.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps
Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Joseph Quinn star in a retro-styled Marvel adventure featuring Silver Surfer and Galactus. It suits viewers looking for a colourful superhero story centred on an established Marvel team.
Thunderbolts*
This Marvel team film brings the focus to peripheral characters and takes a darker, more emotionally grounded approach than some recent MCU entries, according to T3. It is the option here for superhero action with an ensemble rather than a single iconic hero at its centre.
NOW/Sky: a UK and Ireland listing
The Woman in the Yard
This Blumhouse mystery horror centres on a woman who repeatedly appears in a family’s yard with disturbing warnings. T3 listed it with NOW/Sky. The service-data cross-check applies to the UK and Ireland, so check local availability if you are elsewhere—or if you are watching after the listing date.
How to choose a film for tonight
- For a thriller: A House of Dynamite brings political tension; Echo Valley leans into family trauma; The Woman in Cabin 10 offers a cruise-ship mystery.
- For a lighter group watch: try the animated musical KPop Demon Hunters, the golf comedy Happy Gilmore 2 or the gentler mystery The Thursday Murder Club.
- For spectacle: choose the race sequences of F1 The Movie, the monsters of The Gorge or a superhero adventure such as The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
- For nonfiction or a story grounded in lived events: John Candy: I Like Me is a documentary, while Eden and Warfare are described as fact-based or based on a participant’s experiences.
- For a demanding watch: Nickel Boys addresses a brutal historical institution; Warfare depicts infantry combat; and the list’s horror and adult animated titles are not family-friendly by default.
What “best” means in this list
This is a cross-service watchlist, not a numbered ranking: T3 presented its 25 selections alphabetically and included its own brief critical judgements. Those judgements are editorial recommendations, not a universal consensus. Rotten Tomatoes’ separate 2025 guide, updated 18 February 2026, ranks Certified Fresh releases by Tomatometer; that is a different measure and a different selection, so it should not be read as a ranking of these 25 films.
