Yes—2025 brought multiple reported departures of classic Cartoon Network shows from the U.S. Max catalog, but the available reporting does not establish a complete list of everything removed that year. The service’s name has since returned to HBO Max; the reports below are dated snapshots, not a check of what is available in 2026.
Which Cartoon Network shows left Max in 2025?
On June 1, 2025, ComicBook.com reported that The Powerpuff Girls had been removed from the U.S. service heading into June. The outlet said Courage the Cowardly Dog was then the only remaining classic Cartoon Cartoons-era title in that catalog. That is a report about the catalog at that moment, not a complete yearlong removal ledger or confirmation of either show’s current status. Read the June 1 report.

A later snapshot was also concerning for fans. On August 2, 2025, ComicBook.com counted eleven Cartoon Network original animated series still on HBO Max and cautioned that their continued availability was not guaranteed. The count was the outlet’s assessment on that date, not an official Warner Bros. Discovery total. Read the August 2 report.
Together, these reports support the headline’s premise that classic Cartoon Network programming was disappearing from the U.S. subscription catalog during 2025. They do not show that every classic series left, identify every departure across the year, or establish that the remaining shows were later removed.

Why are classic Cartoon Network shows disappearing from Max?
Streaming availability is temporary: HBO Max’s Help Center says, “Some movies and shows are available for a limited time only.” A title leaving a subscription catalog is an availability change; the reporting cited here does not establish the reason for any individual Cartoon Network licensing decision. ComicBook.com noted in its June report that some titles move to other streaming services while others disappear from subscription services.
The distinction matters: a show missing from Max is not necessarily unavailable everywhere, but neither does its removal mean it has moved to another subscription service. Check current listings in your country rather than assuming a title has a particular new home.

How can I tell if a show is leaving Max?
HBO Max directs viewers to its Last Chance row for titles scheduled to leave. Its Help Center gives these paths:
- Phone, tablet, or computer: Choose the search icon, then find the Last Chance row.
- TV devices: Look under What’s New.
The row is a practical way to check for an announced departure, but the service’s help page does not say that it is a complete historical record of removals. HBO Max Help Center: Find out what’s leaving soon.

No. Catalogs can differ by region. Meristation reported that HBO Max Spain added selected episodes of several classic series on August 4, 2025, while those same series had left the U.S. and Latin American catalogs on August 1. This dated example is not a current availability check; look at the catalog for your own country and account. Read Meristation’s report on Spain.

Check the current streaming catalog for your region first; the June 2025 U.S. report does not establish where the show can be streamed now. For a copy that does not depend on a subscription catalog, ComicBook.com’s August 2 report identified a complete-series DVD as a physical-edition example. Confirm the edition, episode coverage, and current retailer availability before buying, since that report does not establish live stock or price.

When comparing options, check whether the service currently lists the show in your country, whether a departure appears in Last Chance, and whether the available streaming version includes the episodes or seasons you want. For a physical edition, verify completeness and that it is currently obtainable.
