There’s plenty of compelling television beyond Netflix, but no reliable, currently verified set of 20 shows can be called “not on Netflix” without checking a specific country’s catalogs. Streaming rights change and vary by location. Use the recommendations and official catalog links below to find alternatives, then confirm that each title is available where you live before subscribing.
Why “not on Netflix” depends on where you watch
A series can be on one service in the United States and unavailable—or on Netflix—in another country. Rights also change over time, so “not on Netflix” is not a permanent description of a show. Hulu itself cautions that viewing can depend on streaming rights and location; its official catalog is a useful starting point, not a guarantee of access for every viewer.
The available catalog information does not verify 20 individual shows as both absent from Netflix and available on an alternative service in a defined market. Listing titles as confirmed picks would risk sending readers to the wrong service. Instead, use the services’ catalogs to check specific shows in your region before making a viewing decision.
How to check a show before you subscribe
- Search the alternative service’s catalog. Hulu’s TV and movie catalog and Peacock’s TV page and A–Z show listing are official places to start. A listing still may not mean the title is available under every plan or in every location.
- Check Netflix in the same country. Search the local Netflix catalog for the exact show. Confirm both sides of the question: it is on the alternative service and not on Netflix where you watch.
- Check the access route and plan. Some eligible Hulu subscribers can watch on-demand Hulu content through Disney+, but access depends on the plan. Hulu notes that bundle features—including simultaneous streams, video quality, downloads, and geographic access—can differ from using each service directly. See the Disney+ Hulu access guidance and Hulu bundle support page for applicable details.
- Recheck before paying. Catalog availability can change. A dated example illustrates why: Axios listed Abbott Elementary as available on Hulu on October 8, 2026, but that report is not a guarantee of current or regional availability. See its dated streaming roundup and confirm the title directly before subscribing.
Choose by the kind of show you want
Once you have confirmed what is actually available to you, compare candidates by genre, tone, how much time you want to commit, and whether you prefer a completed series or one that is still ongoing. Official catalogs help locate titles; they do not establish that a show is the best fit for your taste or that its Netflix status will remain unchanged.

- Episode commitment: Check the number and length of episodes in the listing if you want a short watch or a longer series.

- Regional access: Confirm that your location and plan allow streaming, especially when using a bundle or a service through another app.
Where to browse official catalogs
Start with Hulu’s official content catalog or Peacock’s TV catalog and A–Z listing. Then check the show in Netflix for your country. Because rights and plan access vary, treat a service listing as a lead to verify—not a universal availability promise.
