This shortlist brings together 20 globally prominent parks as a starting point—not a definitive quality ranking. The latest identified worldwide benchmark, the 2024 TEA Global Experience Index, ranks parks by calendar-year attendance, not ride quality or guest satisfaction. Its top 25 parks recorded nearly 246 million combined visits in 2024, 2.4% more than in 2023. TEA’s October 2025 release describes mature markets in the United States, Japan, and western Europe as generally flat to modestly changed, while leading internationally branded parks in China continued to grow.
How to use this shortlist
Attendance helps identify parks with worldwide prominence, but it cannot tell you which one you will enjoy most. The TEA index is the best current attendance reference identified here; it is not a league table of quality. The list below is a practical editorial selection of parks and park destinations, not a verified ranking of the world’s top 20 by attendance. No exact park-by-park placements or attendance figures are assigned here.
Consider the experience you want, the people you are travelling with, and how much of the trip you want to devote to reaching the park. The entries include theme parks and major amusement destinations; their attractions, scale, and emphasis differ.
20 amusement parks to consider around the world
1. Tokyo DisneySea — Japan
Tokyo DisneySea is built around the myths and legends of the sea, a concept Tokyo Disney Resort describes as unique among Disney parks. Its Fantasy Springs area draws on Frozen, Tangled, and Peter Pan. Consider it if you value a strong setting and story-led lands as much as rides. Tokyo Disney Resort’s park page provides the official overview.

2. Tokyo Disneyland — Japan
Tokyo Disneyland is a natural companion to DisneySea for visitors planning a Tokyo Disney Resort trip. Choose it for a classic Disney park format; choose between the two based on the kind of themed experience you want rather than assuming one is universally better.
3. Europa-Park — Germany
Europa-Park advertises more than 100 attractions and shows, making it a broad choice for groups with varied interests. Its official page also lists a family attraction based on Grand Prix of Europe for 2025. Offerings can change by season: the same page advertises a 2026 Magic Cinema 4D offering, so check current dates and operating details when planning. Europa-Park’s official site is the place to verify current information.
4. Disneyland Park — Anaheim, California, United States
Disneyland Park is a major option for travellers seeking a destination built around Disney stories and attractions. It is one of two parks at the Disneyland Resort, so a visit can be planned around one park or a multi-park stay depending on available time.
5. Disney California Adventure Park — Anaheim, California, United States
Across the resort from Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure offers a distinct second-park option. It makes sense for visitors who want more than one style of Disney-themed day without changing hotels or destinations.
Rank #2
6. Magic Kingdom Park — Florida, United States
Magic Kingdom is a flagship choice for a classic, storybook-style theme-park day. Its place in Walt Disney World makes it a potential part of a longer Florida park trip rather than a quick standalone stop.
7. EPCOT — Florida, United States
EPCOT is the Walt Disney World option for visitors drawn to themed environments beyond a conventional ride-focused day. It can suit mixed-interest groups looking to combine attractions with exploration of the park’s distinct areas.
8. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park — Florida, United States
Animal Kingdom brings animal-focused and adventure themes into a major theme-park setting. It is worth considering if your group wants a different atmosphere from a castle-centered park day.

Universal Studios Florida is a choice for visitors interested in entertainment and attraction experiences tied to screen stories. It is part of Universal Orlando Resort, which can make it one element of a larger multi-park itinerary.

12. Cedar Point — Ohio, United States
Cedar Point is a long-established name in American amusement parks and a strong candidate for visitors whose priority is a ride-centered park day. Check the park’s current ride lineup and calendar before travelling; this shortlist does not rank its rides or claim a current record.
13. Six Flags Magic Mountain — California, United States
Six Flags Magic Mountain is a prominent option for a thrill-focused visit near Los Angeles. It is a better fit for guests seeking a dedicated amusement-park day than for travellers looking primarily for elaborate themed storytelling.

15. Disneyland Park — Marne-la-Vallée, France
The original Disneyland Paris park is a central choice for visitors who want a Disney park experience on a European trip. The resort’s second park has changed its name: it is now Disney Adventure World, following the opening of World of Frozen on 29 March 2026. Disneyland Paris’s official page reflects the current name and park information.
16. Disney Adventure World — Marne-la-Vallée, France
Disney Adventure World is the current name of Disneyland Paris’s second park, not Walt Disney Studios Park. World of Frozen opened on 29 March 2026. Travellers using older guides should check the resort’s current park map and operating information under the new name.
17. Hong Kong Disneyland — Hong Kong
Hong Kong Disneyland is a major destination choice for visitors combining a theme-park day with a trip to Hong Kong. Its position on a global shortlist reflects the broad reach of branded parks, not a claim about its relative ride quality.

Shanghai Disneyland is a large-scale choice for visitors in or travelling to Shanghai. TEA’s 2025 summary notes continued growth among leading internationally branded parks in China, but does not establish an individual park’s attendance figure in the readable release text.
19. Universal Studios Japan — Osaka, Japan
Universal Studios Japan is a major option for a Japan itinerary that includes Osaka. As with other large parks, compare current attractions, dates, and ticket arrangements directly with the park before locking in travel plans.
20. Lotte World Adventure — Seoul, South Korea
Lotte World Adventure is a major urban amusement destination to consider when visiting Seoul. Its city setting can make it a different kind of trip from resort parks that require a separate destination stay.

- For immersive storytelling: Tokyo DisneySea is a clear candidate if the sea-myth concept and Fantasy Springs themes appeal to you.
- For a broad mix of attractions and shows: Europa-Park advertises more than 100, though the exact combination available depends on the season and current operations.
- For a multi-day resort visit: Consider destinations with more than one park, such as Tokyo Disney Resort, Disneyland Resort, Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando Resort, or Disneyland Paris.
- For thrill-focused amusement: Consider Cedar Point or Six Flags Magic Mountain, then check current ride lineups and operating calendars to confirm the fit.
- For a city itinerary: Look at parks near the cities you already plan to visit, such as Universal Studios Japan in Osaka or Lotte World Adventure in Seoul.
Names and offerings change. Confirm park identity, opening calendars, attraction availability, and admission details on official park websites for your travel dates.
What global attendance can—and cannot—tell you
The 2024 TEA Global Experience Index is the latest edition identified here. TEA says the calendar-year index names and ranks theme parks, amusement parks, water parks, museums, and theme-park group operators by attendance, with global and regional views. In the release announcing the index, TEA CEO Melissa Oviedo said, “We can now easily grow the report to match the expanding role of themed entertainment in markets around the world.” The comment describes the index’s scope and evolution, not a verdict on park quality. Read TEA’s release and consult the index itself for verified park-level placements.
