There isn’t one definitive list of cars that inspired every Transformers character: vehicle modes change between continuities and films. The examples below identify the real-world vehicles represented in the original-series designs or the 2007 live-action film, rather than claiming that one car inspired every version. The 20 entries are a selected cross-continuity lineup, not an official canon roster—and several are trucks or off-road vehicles, not passenger cars.
Original-series vehicle modes
These pairings come from the original-series reference. They describe character designs from that context, not necessarily the vehicles used in later films.
1. Bumblebee — Volkswagen Beetle

Vehicle modes in the 2007 live-action film
The 2007-film pairings below come from a film-focused vehicle reference. Screen vehicles can be modified or adapted for production, so these identifications describe the represented models, not a claim that every vehicle was an untouched showroom example.
15. Bumblebee — Chevrolet Camaro
The live-action films portray Bumblebee as a Chevrolet Camaro, unlike the original-series Beetle. Camaro versions vary across the films, so “Bumblebee is a Camaro” applies to the movie portrayal, not every continuity. Hasbro’s official instructions for its Studio Series 01 Movie 1 Bumblebee figure likewise show conversion between robot and Chevrolet Camaro modes in 22 steps, with a weapon accessory. Hasbro instructions; Hachette Collections’ film vehicle reference.
16. Optimus Prime — Peterbilt 379
In the 2007 film, Optimus Prime is represented by a Peterbilt 379. The reference says three trucks used for the film came from different vintages, so it does not establish one exact model year. Source: Hachette Collections.
17. Jazz — Pontiac Solstice
The 2007-film Jazz is a Pontiac Solstice, a marked change from the original-series Porsche 935 Turbo. Source: Hachette Collections.

Why the vehicle list changes by version
Transformers have appeared across multiple continuities, toy releases, and films. A character’s vehicle mode is therefore version-specific: Bumblebee’s Beetle and Camaro, Jazz’s Porsche and Pontiac, and Ratchet’s Nissan and Hummer are different representations, not contradictions. This feature selects 20 sourced examples across two contexts; it is not a definitive or official list of every Transformers vehicle mode.
