That is an editorial ranking, not an audited record of sale prices: published estimates differ, and the list mixes original-year figures, reported values and, in one case, an auction result. Here are the entries in Hitched’s published order, with those distinctions made clear.
Hitched’s 19 most expensive wedding dresses, in published order
The pound amounts below are the figures printed by Hitched. They should be read as reported editorial values, not verified purchase receipts. The list includes royal figures as well as celebrities, and one dress intended for a wedding that did not take place.
- Serena Williams — £2.6 million. Sarah Burton designed the Alexander McQueen ball gown, which Hitched describes as having a cape. Williams wore three wedding dresses that day; Parade says she changed into two Versace looks for the reception. [Hitched; Parade]
- Victoria Swarovski — £800,000. Michael Cinco designed the gown, reported by Hitched to feature 500,000 Swarovski crystals and weigh 46 kilograms. The Knot gives a different weight—about 100 pounds—and says it had a 26-foot lace veil, so those details should be attributed rather than treated as settled specifications. [Hitched; The Knot]
- Salma Hayek — £430,000. Hitched names Balenciaga as the designer and gives this reported value. The Knot lists the gown at $434,000, a different publisher’s estimate and currency. [Hitched; The Knot]
- Kim Kardashian — £400,000. Hitched describes this as a rumored price for her Givenchy gown by Riccardo Tisci, not a confirmed amount. The Knot’s estimate is $500,000. [Hitched; The Knot]
- Kate Middleton — £250,000. Sarah Burton designed the Alexander McQueen gown. British Vogue gives a separate estimate of £325,176 in 2011 and £375,739 in its “today” valuation; those are Vogue’s figures, not a direct conversion of Hitched’s ranking entry. [Hitched; British Vogue]
- Mariah Carey — £250,000. Hitched reports this price for a gown intended for Carey’s wedding to James Packer, which was cancelled. She later burned the dress for the “I Don’t” music video; it was not worn in a completed wedding ceremony. [Hitched]
- Chiara Ferragni — £231,000. Her Dior haute couture wedding look appears at this reported value in Hitched’s list. [Hitched]
- Princess Marie-Chantal of Greece — £150,000. Hitched identifies a custom Valentino gown and reports this value. [Hitched]
- Coleen Rooney — £130,000. Hitched names a Marchesa gown at this reported price. It separately reports £85,000 spent on fitting travel; that travel cost is not part of the gown figure. [Hitched]
- Elizabeth Taylor — £122,000. This is not an estimate of what the dress originally cost: it is the reported 2013 auction sale price for her first wedding gown, designed by Helen Rose. Hitched says the sale exceeded a £30,000 estimate. [Hitched]
- Meghan Markle — £110,000. Hitched lists the Givenchy gown designed by Clare Waight Keller at this reported value. [Hitched]
- Catherine Zeta-Jones — £104,000. Hitched describes a custom Christian Lacroix gown and gives the price as £104,000, alongside a $140,000 figure. British Vogue’s own estimate for Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge’s gown is a separate matter; the similar names should not be conflated. [Hitched]
- Princess Diana — £95,000. David and Elizabeth Emanuel designed the gown. Hitched also gives £365,000 as its value in “today’s money,” a different basis from the £95,000 ranking figure. [Hitched]
- Victoria Beckham — £80,000. Hitched identifies a Vera Wang gown at this reported figure. [Hitched]
- Nicky Hilton — £57,000. Her Valentino gown is listed by Hitched at £57,000, with a corresponding $77,000 figure in the article. [Hitched]
- Grace Kelly — £50,000. MGM costume designer Helen Rose created the gown for Kelly’s 1956 marriage to Prince Rainier III. Hitched says the figure was about $65,000 at the time and gives £463,000 as its present-day equivalent. British Vogue describes 10 separate pieces, thousands of hand-sewn pearls and Brussels lace said to be 125 years old. [Hitched; British Vogue]
- Pippa Middleton — £40,000. Hitched names Giles Deacon as the designer and reports this value. [Hitched]
- Ivanka Trump — £38,000. Her Vera Wang gown appears at this figure in Hitched, which also gives $50,000. [Hitched]
- Katie Holmes — £38,000. Hitched identifies an Armani gown and gives the same £38,000 ranking figure, alongside $50,000. [Hitched]
Why published prices do not agree
These lists do not provide one consistent measure. A reported cost, a rumored price, a historical estimate adjusted for inflation and an auction result are not interchangeable. The ranking above preserves Hitched’s displayed order and values rather than recalculating it with later valuations or mixing other publishers’ estimates into one sequence.
For example, British Vogue estimates Serena Williams’s gown at £2,622,945 in 2017 and £2,781,060 in its “today” valuation. The Knot lists it at $3.5 million. For Victoria Swarovski, Vogue gives £1,412,381 in 2017 and £749,412 “today,” while The Knot lists $1 million; Hitched’s ranking figure is £800,000. The publishers’ numbers differ, and the underlying articles do not establish a single verified receipt. [British Vogue; The Knot; Hitched]

Lists also change with their publication date and scope. The Knot includes Priyanka Chopra’s Ralph Lauren gown at an estimated $2 million and describes its hand-stitched Swarovski-crystal embellishment and 75-foot veil. Parade’s 4 July 2026 article repeats an original estimate of around $2 million and gives nearly $2.6 million in 2026 dollars. Chopra is not in Hitched’s November 2021 19-entry list. Across this selection, the reported prices attach to bespoke designer and couture creations rather than ordinary retail gowns. The public details often emphasize labor and construction: Grace Kelly’s pearls and lace, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge’s hand-cut English and Chantilly lace, and Swarovski’s crystal-covered dress. British Vogue says the Cambridge gown had 58 gazar-silk-covered buttons and an underskirt of white and ivory satin gazar trimmed with Cluny lace.
