Death Devil is the strongest devil in Chainsaw Man by the end of the manga, with Darkness Devil, Aging Devil, Falling Devil, and the true Chainsaw Devil, Pochita, completing the top five. This is a spoiler-heavy ranking through Chapter 232. Since Chainsaw Man has no official power chart, the list weighs narrative status, demonstrated feats, ability versatility, survivability, strategic reach, and each character’s strongest confirmed form.
Death Devil ranks as the strongest devil in Chainsaw Man, followed by Darkness, Aging, Falling, and the true Chainsaw Devil, Pochita. That order is an editorial ranking rather than an official power scale: the manga has never published a numerical leaderboard, and a devil’s danger can come from conceptual abilities, contracts, preparation, survivability, or battlefield control instead of destructive force alone.

This is a spoiler-heavy ranking of the manga through Chapter 232, including Part 2 and the completed late-series material. Each entry uses the strongest form that has been shown or clearly established. The list also uses “devil” broadly for the relevant entity or form, so the boundaries are explained where a character is technically a hybrid, fiend, human contractor, or empowered host.
Because this ranking depends on manga canon rather than the anime alone, readers who want the source material behind the feats can begin with the Chainsaw Man manga box set, which collects volumes 1–11 and the Public Safety Arc. It is a useful starting point, although it does not include the later Part 2 material used for the highest Yoru, Aging, Fire, and Death-related placements.
How the ranking works
The order combines five factors:
- Narrative status: primal fears and Horsemen receive substantial weight because the story presents them as fundamentally different from ordinary devils.
- Demonstrated feats: direct attacks, range, speed, scale, and the ability to defeat or disable other powerful characters.
- Ability versatility: conceptual erasure, control, mental attacks, contracts, battlefield removal, and other abilities that can bypass conventional durability.
- Survivability: regeneration, immortality-like properties, distributed bodies, contracts, and resistance to permanent death.
- Peak form: the ranking judges the strongest version actually shown or clearly established, not necessarily the form seen most often.
The top five are separated less by simple attack power than by how difficult they are to kill, contain, or even define as a normal opponent. A lower-ranked devil can still win a particular matchup if its ability directly counters a stronger opponent or if it has enough preparation.

1. Death Devil
Death is the safest choice for the number-one position. The completed late-series material frames Death as the apex Horseman-level threat and the central existential danger of the final conflict. Her power is not presented as a single tournament-style attack with a measurable maximum. Instead, the story emphasizes her ability to survive circumstances that should be fatal, influence a conflict involving humanity and the devil world, and convert powerful devils into controlled pawns.
That combination gives Death the strongest overall profile in the series. She has immense narrative status, unusual survivability, access to powerful controlled entities, and an existential plan operating on a scale far beyond an ordinary devil hunt. She is dangerous not merely because she can kill an opponent, but because she can shape the conditions under which entire groups of opponents fight.
Why she ranks first: unmatched narrative importance, extreme survivability, control over powerful entities, and an apparent plan affecting the human and devil worlds.
The caveat: the manga does not establish a numerical ceiling or show a clean neutral battle between Death and every other top-tier devil. Placing her first is strongly supported by the story’s framing, but it remains an interpretation rather than a confirmed statement that she would defeat every other entry in a direct duel.
2. Darkness Devil
Darkness has the most overwhelming direct introduction of any primal fear. In Hell, it mutilates a group containing experienced devil hunters, fiends, and high-level combatants with seemingly effortless attacks. It can sever or destroy bodies at range, acts with terrifying speed, and is treated as something fundamentally beyond the ordinary rules governing devils and humans.
Darkness also benefits from the fear’s primal status. Fear of darkness is ancient, instinctive, and difficult to eliminate, which helps explain why the Darkness Devil is not portrayed as a conventional opponent that can be worn down through ordinary combat. Its first major display provides one of the clearest demonstrations of a devil completely dominating a powerful group without relying on a long preparation period.
Why it ranks here: the strongest concentrated combat-feat display among the primal fears, extreme lethality, speed, and minimal dependence on preparation.
The caveat: Death’s late-series status and Pochita’s conceptual erasure prevent a definitive claim that Darkness must defeat either of them. Darkness is the most obvious number one if direct combat feats are weighted above late-series narrative status, but Death remains the stronger overall choice for this list.
3. Aging Devil
Aging is a confirmed primal fear with one of the most oppressive ability sets in the manga. It can inflict severe damage remotely, manipulate conditions connected to aging, and draw opponents into a separate world where ordinary assumptions about time, aging, and death no longer work normally.
The Aging Devil does not need to overpower every opponent physically. Its strength comes from changing the battlefield and imposing rules that make conventional toughness far less relevant. An enemy who survives a direct attack may still be trapped in an environment designed to exhaust, age, or otherwise undermine them. That makes Aging particularly dangerous against teams that rely on coordinated physical attacks.
Why it ranks here: primal-fear status, remote damage, battlefield removal, and a domain-like environment with radically altered rules.
Recommended Free Tools
The caveat: the manga does not provide a complete comparative fight establishing Aging’s exact position against Darkness, Falling, or peak Pochita. Its placement reflects how difficult its abilities are to counter, not a claim that it has clearly demonstrated greater raw output than every devil below it.
4. Falling Devil
Falling is another confirmed primal fear, described as a transcendent being that has never experienced death. Its powers affect both body and mind: it weaponizes trauma, manipulates gravity, and produces destruction on a scale capable of affecting large populations.
Falling’s psychological component is as important as its physical power. Rather than simply attacking a target’s body, it can exploit memories, fear, and emotional collapse. Its gravitational abilities then turn that mental pressure into a large-scale physical threat. Even when opposed, Falling is not treated like an ordinary devil that can simply be defeated by dealing enough damage in a conventional exchange.

The caveat: apparent defeats or interruptions are not necessarily clean, permanent kills. Some of Falling’s late-series circumstances also connect to Death’s wider plan, making it difficult to separate the devil’s independent ceiling from the conditions imposed by the larger conflict.
5. Hero of Hell Pochita, the true Chainsaw Devil
Pochita’s strongest form is one of the most dangerous entities in the setting. The Hero of Hell combines extreme speed, brutal close-quarters power, regeneration, and the ability to erase devils and the concepts associated with them. That final ability changes the strategic value of every confrontation: losing to Pochita can mean more than death for the individual devil.
Most powerful devils are threats because they can kill people or destroy cities. Pochita is a threat to the existence of ideas in the world itself. Conceptual erasure gives him a unique victory condition and makes him especially dangerous to devils that would otherwise return through the cycle between Earth and Hell.
Why it ranks here: extraordinary combat performance, regeneration, speed, and a conceptual ability that can permanently remove devil-related concepts.

A reasonable list can place the true Chainsaw Devil anywhere from roughly third to fifth without contradicting the manga.
6. Peak War Devil Yoru
Yoru begins Part 2 severely weakened, but the strongest version of the War Devil is vastly more dangerous than her early appearances suggest. Her power is connected to fear of war and related weapons. She can turn people, body parts, and objects she regards as belonging to her into weapons, allowing emotional relationships and social bonds to become attack resources.
Renewed fear connected to war, along with access to increasingly significant weapons, greatly amplifies Yoru’s threat. This gives her both a high current ceiling and an unusual growth mechanism: the broader and more intense the relevant fear becomes, the more dangerous her weapon creation can be.
Why she ranks here: enormous growth potential, weapon creation, war-related amplification, and the ability to convert personal or social ownership into offensive power.

Early Part 2 Yoru was much weaker and should not be used as evidence for what the strongest War Devil can do. Her position is also partly potential-based because the manga has not provided a long, neutral fight against every entity above her.
7. Control Devil Makima
Makima’s power is not limited to the Control Devil’s direct ability. Her danger comes from the combination of control, contracts, preparation, information management, and the ability to weaponize other devils and devil hunters. Her contract-based survivability makes ordinary assassination ineffective, while her planning allows her to defeat opponents who might be stronger in a straightforward exchange.
This makes Makima one of the clearest examples of why “strongest” cannot mean destructive output alone. She can arrange the battlefield, conceal her objectives, use other beings as tools, and force enemies to deal with layers of protection before they can reach her. Her resources and preparation are part of the version being ranked.
Why she ranks here: control over other beings, extensive contracts, strategic planning, information advantage, and exceptional resilience.

Rank #3
8. Gun Devil
The Gun Devil remains one of the clearest examples of raw destructive power in Chainsaw Man. Its attacks kill civilians across cities, destroy infrastructure, and operate with extraordinary speed and range. Even a portion of the Gun Devil was considered a national-level weapon and was deployed in an attempt to kill Makima.
Unlike the primals and Horsemen, Gun’s main strength is immediately legible: it can strike huge areas quickly and overwhelm ordinary defenses before an opponent has time to respond. That first-strike potential makes it one of the most dangerous devils for populated areas and conventional devil-hunting organizations.
Why it ranks here: exceptional range, speed, mass-casualty output, and devastating first-strike potential.

1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteThe caveat: Gun lacks the conceptual erasure, layered survivability, and reality-bending versatility of the highest entries. The story also presents its strongest version in fragmented circumstances rather than through a prolonged, full-power neutral duel, so direct comparisons remain imperfect.
9. Hell Devil
The Hell Devil is more than a creature associated with a location. Through contracts and manifestations, it can forcibly send targets to Hell, potentially removing entire groups from a battlefield at once. That ability is strategically consequential even when the physical manifestation itself is vulnerable.
Hell’s strength is therefore closer to battlefield removal than conventional damage. A team that is sent to Hell loses control of the immediate fight, and the devil’s contracts can make that outcome available to human operators who could never match the target physically.
Why it ranks here: mass targeting, battlefield removal, and contracts with consequences far beyond a normal attack.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
The caveat: the true Chainsaw Devil rapidly destroys one summoned manifestation of Hell, which keeps the Hell Devil below the highest combatants. Its high placement is driven primarily by utility and strategic impact; its direct durability and fighting feats are comparatively limited.
10. Fire Devil
The Fire Devil is a major late-series threat connected to the Chainsaw Man Church and the false Justice Devil identity. Its contracts can grant transformational powers to large numbers of people, enabling pseudo-Chainsaw forces and mass manipulation.
Fire is dangerous because it scales through other people. Instead of remaining one powerful body, it can help create a movement with many empowered participants. That makes its influence larger than its confirmed one-on-one combat record would suggest and allows it to change the political and military balance around the Chainsaw Man conflict.
Why it ranks here: scalable contract distribution, transformation-granting power, and strategic influence over a large organization.
The caveat: Fire is more clearly an enabler and organizer than a confirmed direct-combat powerhouse. Readers who prioritize individual fighting feats can reasonably place it lower. The late-story identification of the relevant entity as the Fire Devil is also why the Justice Devil is not listed separately.
11. Darkness-empowered Doll Devil, or Santa Claus
Santa Claus is already a dangerous Doll Devil user, but receiving flesh from the Darkness Devil dramatically increases the threat. The enhanced form combines doll conversion and distributed bodies with far greater regeneration, attack power, and resistance than ordinary Doll Devil manifestations.
This is an important conditional ranking. The entry is not claiming that every Doll Devil manifestation belongs among the 15 strongest devils. It ranks the Darkness-empowered Santa Claus form, whose access to primal-fear power makes it a radically different opponent from baseline Santa.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →The caveat: the power is conditional. Without access to Darkness Devil flesh, Santa’s placement would be lower, and the enhanced form should not be treated as the ordinary Doll Devil’s baseline strength.
12. Cosmos Devil
Cosmos is a specialist rather than a conventional powerhouse. Its ability can overwhelm a target’s mind with vast knowledge, leaving the victim unable to function normally. That creates a potentially immediate win condition against an enemy whose physical durability would otherwise make them difficult to hurt.
Cosmos demonstrates why a narrow ability can be more useful than a large explosion. If the attack takes effect, armor, regeneration, and physical strength may not matter. The drawback is that Cosmos has too few conventional combat demonstrations to support a higher raw-power placement.
Why it ranks here: potentially instant mental incapacitation and an ability that bypasses ordinary physical durability.
The caveat: this is a hax- and matchup-based placement. Cosmos is exceptionally dangerous in the right encounter, but the manga does not establish the same level of speed, durability, range, or independent battlefield control as the entries above it.
13. Curse Devil
The Curse Devil can inflict catastrophic damage once the required ritual conditions are met. In prepared operations, its contracts allow a relatively ordinary devil hunter to become a lethal assassin against targets who might otherwise be far beyond human reach.
Curse is a strong example of contract utility. Its power can be decisive when the user has time to prepare and is willing to pay the associated cost. It therefore ranks above many physically stronger-looking devils whose abilities are less reliable in an organized attack.
Why it ranks here: high lethality and excellent contract utility in planned operations.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsThe caveat: activation requirements, costs, limited users, and preparation time keep Curse below faster primal-fear and Horseman-level entities. In a surprise fight, its ranking would fall considerably.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.14. Eternity Devil
The Eternity Devil can trap people inside a spatial loop, turning a normal mission into an attrition scenario. Escape may depend on defeating the devil or satisfying the conditions of the space it controls. Against a group that lacks the right psychological or tactical response, this domain-like ability can neutralize several opponents at once.
Eternity’s strength is environmental control rather than overwhelming attack power. It can isolate targets, deny ordinary escape routes, and force a team to spend its resources inside a hostile space. That is enough to make it one of the most dangerous mid-tier devils shown in the series.
Why it ranks here: powerful spatial entrapment, battlefield control, and endurance in a confined environment.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
The caveat: Eternity lacks the scale, speed, and finishing power of the devils above it. Its performance is also highly dependent on the environment and on whether the trapped group understands how to challenge the devil’s control.
Best Value
15. Blood Devil Power
Power’s Blood Devil abilities are dangerous but much more conditional than those of the top-ranked entries. Blood weapon creation, manipulation, and regeneration can produce lethal attacks, particularly when she has access to large quantities of blood. Her abilities are versatile enough to make her a meaningful combatant and valuable teammate.
Power belongs at the bottom of this ranking because her best performances are impressive within a team context but do not approach the scale of the primals, Horsemen, Gun Devil, or major contract devils. Her strength also varies sharply with her available blood and physical condition.
Why she makes the list: adaptable blood weapons, blood manipulation, regeneration, and meaningful combat growth.
The caveat: this is a list of the strongest notable devils and devil-related entities, not a claim that Power can directly challenge the entities above her. The form associated with Power is also technically distinct from an ordinary human fighter, which is one reason the scope is explained rather than treated as a perfectly strict species list.
Honorable mentions and exclusions
Bomb Devil and Reze
The Bomb Devil is extremely dangerous, but Reze is primarily presented as a weapon hybrid rather than an ordinary devil. She is excluded from this strict devil-focused ranking. If the subject were changed to the strongest Chainsaw Man characters, hybrids would need their own section and Reze would be a serious contender.
Weapon hybrids, fiends, and human contractors
Weapon hybrids, fiends, humans using contracts, and temporary devil-empowered forms are not automatically included. Otherwise, the list would mix fundamentally different categories and make comparisons difficult. The Santa Claus entry is included only because the ranking explicitly judges her Darkness-empowered form as a major devil-related threat.
Justice Devil
The Justice Devil is not listed separately because the late story identifies the relevant entity as the Fire Devil. Treating Justice and Fire as two unrelated entries would double-count the same late-series threat under different labels.
Recommended Free Tools
Famine Devil
Famine is omitted from the top 15 because her greatest danger comes from planning, manipulation, and resource control rather than a demonstrated direct-combat ceiling that clearly exceeds the selected entries. That does not make her harmless; it means her influence is better evaluated as strategy and plot-level leverage than as straightforward fighting power.
Why the rankings are debatable
The most contestable placements are Death, Darkness, Aging, Falling, Pochita, and peak Yoru. There is no neutral battle that settles every possible matchup, and Chainsaw Man deliberately avoids presenting strength as a clean numerical system.
- Raw destruction favors Gun Devil and Darkness. They have some of the clearest large-scale attack displays.
- Conceptual danger favors Pochita. Erasure can permanently change the world instead of merely defeating an opponent.
- Preparation favors Makima, Curse, and Santa Claus. Their best results depend heavily on contracts, information, borrowed power, or setup.
- Matchup hax favors Aging, Hell, and Cosmos. A target may lose through aging, removal, or mental incapacitation without being physically overpowered.
- Potential favors Yoru. Peak War is much stronger than early Yoru, but some of her final placement reflects a power ceiling that is still developing.
For that reason, “strongest” should be read as most dangerous at the strongest confirmed or clearly established version, not “would win every fight in a featureless arena.”
Final verdict
Death Devil is the best overall number-one pick because the final manga gives her the highest combination of narrative status, survivability, control, and existential reach. Darkness has the most immediately overwhelming combat presentation, while Pochita possesses the most frightening win condition through conceptual erasure. Aging, Falling, and peak Yoru demonstrate why the upper end of Chainsaw Man power cannot be measured by city-level destruction alone.
Quick wins for a faster PC:

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is Death Devil ranked above Darkness Devil?
Death Devil is the strongest overall choice because the completed late-series manga presents her as the apex Horseman-level threat, with extraordinary survivability, control over powerful entities, and an existential plan affecting both humanity and the devil world. The manga does not provide a numerical power ceiling, so this is a strongly supported editorial ranking rather than an official statement that Death wins every direct fight.
Is Pochita stronger than the primal fears?
Pochita’s Hero of Hell form can erase devils and the concepts associated with them, making defeat potentially permanent in a way that ordinary death is not. He ranks fifth here because Death and the primal fears have greater narrative status or broader demonstrated influence, but placing Pochita anywhere from roughly third to fifth is defensible.
Why is Reze not included?
Reze is primarily presented as the Bomb Weapon hybrid, not as an ordinary devil. Because this is a devil-focused ranking, weapon hybrids, fiends, and human contractors are kept outside the main list. Reze would need to be included in a broader ranking of the strongest Chainsaw Man characters.
Why is the Justice Devil missing from the ranking?
The late story identifies the relevant Justice Devil-related entity as the Fire Devil, so listing Justice separately would double-count the same threat under two names. Fire is ranked for its scalable contracts and ability to empower large numbers of people.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: Death is the strongest overall devil by narrative status and late-series influence, Darkness is the most overwhelming direct combatant shown in an early primal-fear display, and Pochita has the most dangerous individual ability because he can erase devils and their concepts. The remaining order changes depending on whether you value raw output, hax, preparation, survivability, or potential.
