“Can’t stand each other” makes a punchy headline, but these 15 sibling stories are not all mutual feuds. They range from estrangement described by one sibling to public rivalries, disputed accounts and conflicts that later eased or ended. Here’s what was said, by whom, and when—without treating old headlines or anonymous reports as proof of how a relationship stands today.

What these sibling stories do—and don’t—show

A celebrity sibling “feud” can mean very different things: a direct statement that two people are estranged, a dispute over work or politics, or a story assembled from unnamed sources. The entries below identify the speaker and timeframe wherever the reporting establishes them. A first-person account is evidence of what that sibling said and felt; it does not, by itself, establish the other person’s motives or perspective.

Estrangement and distance described by a sibling

1. Hilary and Haylie Duff: Hilary’s account of estrangement

In 2026, Hilary Duff connected her song “We Don’t Talk” to her relationship with her older sister, Haylie. Speaking to Harper’s Bazaar, Hilary called the estrangement “definitely the most lonely part of my life.” She also told Us Weekly that not having her sister in her life was “the most lonely part of my existence.” Those are Hilary’s descriptions of her experience; Haylie’s perspective is not established by these comments.

2. Kelly and Aimee Osbourne: Kelly says reconciliation seems unlikely

In a 2026 Los Angeles Times report, Kelly Osbourne discussed distance from her sister Aimee and said she did not think reconciliation was likely. Aimee has kept a more private public profile, so Kelly’s account should not be mistaken for a shared statement from both sisters.

3. Julia and Eric Roberts: a complicated history and a limit on public discussion

Julia and Eric Roberts have been described as estranged in earlier accounts and later reconciled. In 2024, Eric said he could not discuss his sister publicly: “I love my sister, but I can’t talk about her. She doesn’t want to talk about it,” as reported by The Standard. His statement establishes a boundary around public discussion, not that the siblings currently have no private contact or dislike one another.

4. Madonna and Christopher Ciccone: a rift remembered in a memoir

In a 2008 ABC News interview, artist Christopher Ciccone described incidents that contributed to his strained view of his sister Madonna, including filming at their mother’s grave for her documentary. He recalled thinking, “OK, there are no boundaries now.” That is Ciccone’s recollection of the events and their effect on him, not independent proof of Madonna’s intent. He recounted his perspective in his memoir, Life with My Sister Madonna.

5. Nick and Aaron Carter: a public dispute with serious allegations

Nick and Aaron Carter made public statements during a serious family dispute that included allegations and protective legal steps. Those allegations should be attributed to the brother who made each one, not repeated as established fact. Aaron died in 2022; the public record of their dispute does not justify speculation about either brother’s private motives.

Conflicts that changed, or were more complicated than a feud

6. Liam and Noel Gallagher: Oasis split, then reunion

Years of conflict between Liam and Noel Gallagher culminated in Noel leaving Oasis in 2009. The brothers later reunited professionally, with Oasis announcing a 2025 tour. Their story is a prominent example of a sibling and band conflict whose public status changed—not evidence of a permanent break.

7. Rich and Chris Robinson: no contact, followed by working together again

In 2018, Rich Robinson said he and his brother Chris were not speaking. The Black Crowes reunited professionally in 2019. That chronology matters: Rich’s account described a period of no contact, not their relationship indefinitely.

8. Ray and Dave Davies: decades of tension alongside affection

The Kinks’ Ray and Dave Davies had a famously volatile relationship. A 1966 remark by Dave was reported as saying he hated the sight of Ray; in a later statement, Dave described his love as having been directed toward his brother. The comments capture both tension and affection across different moments, rather than a single, settled verdict on their relationship.

9. Eppie Lederer and Pauline Phillips: professional rivalry, then reconciliation

The twin advice columnists Eppie Lederer, known as Ann Landers, and Pauline Phillips, known as Dear Abby, were often cast as rivals because they wrote competing columns. Accounts describe a period of distance followed by reconciliation. This is a story of sibling and career competition, not evidence that they remained permanently hostile.

Famous feuds that the people involved disputed

10. Joan Fontaine and Olivia de Havilland: rivalry is not the whole story

The Oscar-winning acting sisters became associated with a long-running feud narrative, but both objected to parts of that framing. In a 2013 interview quoted by TIME, Joan Fontaine said, “Olivia and I have never had a quarrel. We have never had any dissatisfaction. We have never had hard words.” De Havilland later rejected the label too, saying, “A feud implies continuing hostile conduct between two parties.” Those statements do not erase periods of distance or public competition; they do make “they couldn’t stand each other” an unreliable summary.

11. Michael and Jermaine Jackson: reported jealousy, denied by Jermaine

Coverage has repeated claims of jealousy between Michael and Jermaine Jackson, but Jermaine denied feuding with Michael and publicly defended him. The jealousy account should therefore be treated as a reported claim, not a fact about either brother’s feelings.

Reported tensions and one-sided public accounts

12. Prince William and Prince Harry: different paths, with caveats about sourcing

In 2019, Prince Harry said he and William were on different paths and had good and bad days. More dramatic descriptions of the brothers’ conflict have often relied on anonymous sourcing, so they should not be presented as confirmed details or as a complete account from both men. Harry’s public comment is the clearest direct statement in this reporting, and it describes a changing relationship rather than constant hostility.

13. Meghan Markle and Samantha Markle: accusations from one side

Meghan’s half-sister Samantha Markle has made public accusations about her. The cited coverage did not include a response from Meghan or other royal family members to those accusations. They are Samantha’s claims, not an independently verified account agreed to by both sisters; the available reporting does not establish the full private state of their relationship.

14. Stephen and Alec Baldwin: a dated political rift

In 2017, Stephen Baldwin said he had not spoken with his brother Alec since the election. Coverage also cited Billy Baldwin criticizing Stephen’s politics. This establishes a reported period of silence tied to political differences at that time; it is not evidence of the brothers’ present-day relationship.

15. Kim and Kyle Richards: public ups and downs

Kim and Kyle Richards’ relationship has played out in public, with coverage describing periods of strain and attempts to repair it. Some reported particulars came from unnamed sources, so individual arguments should not be treated as settled fact. Public ups and downs do not, on their own, prove a lasting estrangement.

How to read a celebrity sibling “feud” headline

  • Check who is speaking. A sibling’s direct description is stronger evidence of that person’s experience than an anonymous account of what the other supposedly feels.
  • Check the date. A claim that someone was not speaking in 2017 or 2018 does not establish the relationship now; later collaboration or reconciliation can change the picture.
  • Separate rivalry from estrangement. Professional competition, a band breakup and a family cutoff are different things, even when coverage calls each a feud.
  • Look for a counterstatement. Fontaine and de Havilland challenged the feud label, while Jermaine Jackson denied the reported rivalry. Those counterpoints belong in the story.
  • Don’t infer private facts from public silence. A boundary around interviews, a private life or an absent public response is not proof of mutual dislike.
