For an Easter gathering, choose games to match the room and the mood: a jar-guessing contest or decorating table keeps things relaxed, while a timed hunt or egg-and-spoon race gets people moving. These 13 ideas range from quick, low-prep activities to crafts and team challenges; most work with simple household supplies.
Hunts and scavenger games
1. Adult egg hunt
Hide fillable plastic eggs around an agreed area. Put small treats, amusing prompts, or clues inside, and let guests search. Set clear boundaries and, if you want a brisk round, a time limit. Hallmark suggests small prizes and a timed search; Cadbury offers ideas for egg fillers and prompts. (Hallmark; Cadbury Gifts)
2. Clue-based treasure hunt
Place a clue in each egg or at each stop, with each hint leading to the next. Finish at a shared treasure, such as a basket of treats. Pottery Barn describes a clue hunt that leads to a larger hidden prize. (Pottery Barn)
3. Timed hunt
Use the ordinary hunt setup, but announce a search window before guests begin. When time is up, have everyone count their finds; award a small prize to the person with the most, or simply compare discoveries. Cadbury suggests using a time limit for an Easter hunt. (Cadbury Gifts)

13. Egg-drop engineering challenge
Split into teams and give each a raw egg and materials for a protective structure. Set a controlled, low-height drop point and a landing area that can be cleaned easily; test each design and see which egg stays intact. Pottery Barn describes a team egg-drop challenge, but this safer low-height setup is a suggested adaptation rather than a requirement to drop eggs from a second story. (Pottery Barn)
How to choose the right games for your gathering
Think about the space, energy, preparation, and cleanup you can manage. A jar guess needs little movement; hunts need a defined search area; crafts need a table and cleanup supplies; a race needs a clear course. You can mix a seated activity with one more active game rather than trying to fit all 13 into one gathering.
- For a small indoor space: Try the jar guess, egg draw, dice exchange, or a seated decorating contest.
- For outdoor space: Consider a timed hunt, couples scavenger hunt, or egg-and-spoon race, with a marked boundary and route.
- For a calmer stretch of the gathering: Set out bonnet or egg-decorating supplies, or run the jar-guessing contest.
- For a group that likes teamwork: Use the clue hunt, scrambled-letter hunt, or egg-drop challenge.
- For less cleanup: Favor paper prompts, hidden plastic eggs, or guessing games over raw-egg drops and messy decorating.
Ready-made games are optional, not necessary for an adult Easter party. Hasbro’s Egged On is a separate 2-to-4-player game; its product description says, “The last player left in the game wins!” (Hasbro)
