On Tom’s Guide’s Netflix U.S. top 10 snapshot for Tuesday, October 6, 2026, East of Eden is No. 1. The ranking is a dated U.S. Netflix chart—not a real-time tally of viewing across every service. Netflix’s separate global English-language weekly chart also put East of Eden first for September 28–October 4, though that chart covers a different region and time window.

The 10 most popular series in the Netflix U.S. snapshot

Tom’s Guide’s October 6 list reflects the Netflix U.S. top 10 on that day. It identifies what was high on that service’s chart at that moment; it should not be read as a universal ranking of what people watched across television and streaming platforms.

East of Eden — No. 1. The seven-part period drama adapts John Steinbeck’s 1952 novel and follows Cathy Ames and the Trask family across two generations. Readers interested in the story’s source can turn to Steinbeck’s novel. Tom’s Guide’s October 6 list describes the series; Netflix’s weekly chart also ranked it first globally among English-language TV titles for September 28–October 4.
A Different World — No. 2.
The Great British Baking Show — No. 3.
Wonka’s the Golden Ticket — No. 4.
Murder in a Small Town — No. 5.
Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story — No. 6 in the U.S. snapshot; No. 2 on Netflix’s global English-language TV chart for September 28–October 4.
The Way Home — No. 7.
Lego One Piece — No. 8 in the U.S. snapshot; Netflix’s global chart lists LEGO ONE PIECE: Season 1 at No. 5 for September 28–October 4.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians — No. 9. Tom’s Guide notes that the series is based on Rick Riordan’s book series.
Doc — No. 10.

What Netflix’s global weekly chart adds

Netflix’s English-language weekly chart for September 28–October 4 ranks titles using weekly viewing figures, rather than a single-day U.S. top-10 snapshot. It recorded East of Eden: Limited Series at No. 1 with 6.5 million views, Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story: Season 1 at No. 2 with 5.7 million, and A Different World: Season 1 at No. 3 with 5.1 million. These are figures from Netflix’s global English-TV weekly chart, not estimates of total audiences across all services or screens. Netflix says it changed its chart methodology after June 12, 2023, so historical rank comparisons that cross that date require care.

Why different “most watched” lists disagree

Popularity charts answer different questions. The Netflix U.S. list is a service-and-region snapshot; it is not a cross-platform measurement of total viewing. Netflix’s global weekly chart reports viewing figures over a defined week. Other publishers track still different signals:

JustWatch ranks user activity, including clicks on streaming offers, watchlist additions, and titles marked as seen. Its U.S. shows page displayed East of Eden at No. 1 when updated October 7, 2026. JustWatch says its charts draw on activity from more than 50 million movie and TV fans per month and update daily across 140 countries and 4,500 streaming services. Those are JustWatch’s stated figures, not audience totals. See JustWatch’s U.S. TV chart.
Nielsen ranks U.S. streaming viewing on television by total minutes watched among people ages 2 and older. Nielsen notes that its reporting systems have program-level data for specified providers, while its viewing data include streaming beyond those providers. Its chart’s reporting week can differ from the dates used by the Netflix snapshot. See Nielsen’s streaming charts and methodology.

Because the measures, dates, and geographic scopes differ, a No. 1 on one chart does not automatically mean No. 1 on another. Name the chart and its measurement window whenever comparing rankings.

Where to check availability

A Netflix ranking identifies a title on Netflix’s chart in the stated region and date; it does not establish that every show is available on Netflix everywhere, or that its availability will remain unchanged. Streaming rights vary by region and can change over time. Check the title in the service’s local catalogue or a current availability guide before subscribing or searching for a specific episode. Tom’s Guide also notes that availability can vary by region.
