Was The Undertaker in the Skyscrapers with Sid Vicious? Not in the same lineup. Sid Vicious and Dan Spivey formed the original WCW team; after Sid was injured, Mark Calaway—then wrestling as Mean Mark Callous—joined Spivey. Here are 10 details that clarify how the team changed and what the surviving WWE archive records.
1. The name pointed to the team’s imposing size
The Skyscrapers were presented as a physically imposing pairing. In a WWE retrospective, Dan Spivey recalled, “We were just so much bigger than everybody else,” describing the team’s visual identity from his perspective. WWE’s 2010 Spivey profile preserves that recollection.
2. Sid Vicious and Dan Spivey were the original lineup
The first version of the Skyscrapers paired Sid Vicious with Spivey. WWE’s retrospective describes Long’s decision to put the “gigantic Sid” with the “equally huge Dan Spivey” as a stroke of genius; that is WWE’s assessment of the pairing, not a statistical measure of its success. WWE’s 2013 tag-team retrospective recounts the original lineup.
3. Teddy Long managed the team
Teddy Long—also identified in WWE’s archive by his full name, Theodore Long—managed the Skyscrapers. That association carried over to the later Mean Mark and Spivey pairing, as recorded in WWE’s listing for Clash of the Champions X.

4. The team’s opponents included the Road Warriors and the Steiners
WWE’s retrospective says the Skyscrapers had notable matches with the Road Warriors and the Steiner brothers. The available archive references establish examples, not a complete match list or a definitive account of the team’s overall record.
5. Clash of the Champions X documents the later pairing against the Road Warriors
WWE’s Clash of the Champions archive lists Mean Mark and Dan Spivey, managed by Theodore Long, against Animal and Hawk—the Road Warriors—at Clash of the Champions X. The listing is a useful record of the later lineup; it is not a Sid-and-Mean-Mark team appearance.

6. A match involving the Steiners led to Sid’s exit
WWE says the Skyscrapers brawled with Rick and Scott Steiner at Clash of the Champions in November 1989. The match ended in a disqualification after Doom ran in, and Sid suffered a punctured lung. WWE identifies that injury as the reason a replacement Skyscraper was brought in.
7. Mean Mark Callous replaced Sid alongside Spivey
The replacement was Mean Mark Callous, who teamed with Spivey after Sid’s injury. WWE’s retrospective says the original pairing’s “magic” could not be recaptured with the replacement, a judgment about the team’s chemistry rather than proof that the later version never wrestled successfully.

8. Mean Mark was Mark Calaway, the future Undertaker
Mean Mark Callous was Mark Calaway’s WCW ring name before he became known as The Undertaker in WWE. WWE’s gallery of Calaway’s WCW days identifies the connection. The Undertaker name came later; it should not be retroactively used as the name of the 1990 Skyscrapers lineup.
9. WWE dates Mean Mark’s WCW debut to January 6, 1990
WWE’s video archive titles the appearance “Undertaker debuts in WCW as ‘Mean Mark’: Jan. 6, 1990.” Its description says Mean Mark Callous and Danny Spivey earned a tag-team win. “Danny” is the wording on that archive page; the wrestler is generally referred to as Dan Spivey in WWE’s retrospective coverage.

10. The short answer: Sid was original; Undertaker joined later as Mean Mark
The two lineups are easy to conflate because Spivey remained the common partner. Sid belonged to the original Skyscrapers team. After Sid’s injury, Calaway’s Mean Mark Callous joined Spivey, creating the later pairing documented by WWE against the Road Warriors. WWE’s cited pages do not provide a complete match ledger or establish a tag-title reign, so neither a full record nor a title claim should be inferred from these examples.
