People who have worked with Taylor Swift describe very different jobs: touring dancers and staff, an outside choreographer, venue workers and security contractors. Some praised Swift herself; others spoke mainly about the demands, rules or excitement of working a concert. These ten accounts are individual snapshots, not a single verdict from a representative group of employees.

What touring performers and collaborators said about Swift

1. A former dancer called her an “incredible boss and friend”

Former dancer Charity Baroni said that “working with her has changed the trajectory of my life” and described Swift as “an incredible boss and friend.” Parade reported that Baroni joined the Fearless Tour at short notice and later danced on Speak Now. Her praise is Baroni’s personal assessment, rooted in her experience as a performer on those tours. Read Parade’s account.

2. Choreographer Mandy Moore praised Swift’s work ethic

Mandy Moore, an outside choreographer who worked with Swift on the Eras Tour, praised the singer’s commitment to the production. In a 2023 interview with Entertainment Tonight, Moore said: “I love that she is a hard worker, she cares so much about what she’s doing, she wants the fans to have the best show possible, and she stops at nothing to get that done.” Moore was describing their collaboration and Swift’s attention to the show, not speaking as a member of Swift’s payroll staff. Read the interview.

3. A former assistant recalled hearing “Ready For It” take shape

Heather Wirth, a former assistant, recalled traveling with Swift and hearing her work on lyrics aboard a plane. Wirth told Executive PA Media: “There was one time where I was travelling with her on her tour and she was sitting in the back of her plane, I could hear her just throwing words together and basically in front of me, she ended up writing Ready For It.” It is a retrospective account of a particular moment, rather than a general claim about Swift’s management style. What venue workers said about the job

4. Their responsibilities were practical and audience-facing

Workers interviewed by The Washington Post described event duties such as monitoring access and handing out LED wristbands. Those accounts help explain what it can mean to work a Swift concert, but venue and event staffing jobs should not be mistaken for positions on Swift’s touring payroll. Read The Washington Post’s reporting.

5. Workers were expected to stay focused, not film the show

Staffing leaders and workers told the Post that employees were cautioned against taking photos or videos and were expected to concentrate on their duties. That boundary mattered in a setting where the audience and music could make a shift feel like attending the concert. The reporting describes job expectations conveyed by staffing organizations and workers; it does not establish one universal rule for every venue or employer.

6. One wristband worker felt part of something larger

Mia Hartounian, who handed out wristbands in Nashville, said the experience made her feel connected to the event: “It really made me feel like I was a part of something bigger than myself.” Her comment captures her own reaction to that shift, not a claim that all event workers share the same feeling. The Post’s story includes Hartounian’s account.

7. A security worker enjoyed the concert while on duty

Davis Perrigo, a security worker and Swift fan, told the Post, “It was awesome. There wasn’t a single song that people didn’t feel,” and called it the best concert he had attended. The remark conveys Perrigo’s enthusiasm as a worker who was also a fan; it does not mean he was free to leave his post or attend as a regular ticket-holder. Read the worker interviews.

What a security contractor said about boundaries at work

8. A contractor distinguished event security from Swift’s personal guards

Calvin Denker, a security contractor employed by an event-security firm, said his job was to help ensure fans had a good time and that Swift had her own personal guards. Denker also said his company considered soliciting fan photos against its policy. He argued that singing and dancing while working security could look like a lapse in attention: “As a whole, it seems very unprofessional to be singing and dancing as a security guard. It looks like you’re obviously distracted and not doing your job.” This was Denker’s view of the role and policy, not a statement from Swift’s personal security team. Read Denker’s first-person account in The Independent.

9. Denker said his employer fired him after a dispute over videos and photos

In the same first-person account, Denker described being dismissed by his employer after a dispute involving videos and fan photos. His account attributes the decision to the security employer and a disagreement over its policy; it does not show that Swift ordered or requested his firing. The Independent published Denker’s account.

How one past tour was described

10. A 2011 profile portrayed the operation as highly professional

A 2011 New Yorker profile described the tour atmosphere as “professional, if not downright corporate.” It quoted tour manager Robert Allen saying: “On the scale of all the tours that I’ve done, personally, it’s as big as it gets.” Allen’s assessment speaks to the scale and organization of that tour at that time; it should not be treated as a current judgment about every Swift production. What the accounts do—and do not—show

The comments range from direct praise of Swift’s work ethic and character to descriptions of concert logistics, personal enjoyment and workplace boundaries. The speakers also held different roles and worked on different projects, from the Fearless and Speak Now tours to the 2023 Eras Tour. None of these accounts alone can stand in for the full experience of everyone who has worked with Swift.

A separate figure reported after the Eras Tour concerns bonuses rather than day-to-day working conditions. CNA Lifestyle reported that People confirmed Swift gave a total of US$197 million in bonuses to employees over the tour’s two-year run, across broad categories of workers. The aggregate does not establish any individual worker’s bonus; viral estimates of what particular dancers received were not confirmed. Read CNA Lifestyle’s report.
