Using peak comic-continuity combat capability—not an official score or a universal consensus—the strongest character here is Omnipotus, with Thragg the most formidable direct fighter. This spoiler-inclusive ranking weighs demonstrated combat, results against elite opponents, versatility, and limits. It includes late-series peaks, so Mark Grayson’s position reflects how much he grows over the story.

How this ranking defines power

Invincible has no official numerical power scale in the sources available. This is an editorial ranking of the comics, not the animated adaptation, and it uses each character’s strongest demonstrated version. Combat ability and versatility matter most; direct results against elite opponents provide context, but injuries, teamwork, and unusual circumstances matter too. Strategic impact counts, but it does not automatically make someone the better one-on-one fighter.

That distinction is important: Omnipotus ranks first for the breadth and scale of his abilities, while Thragg has the strongest case as a direct physical combatant. Atom Eve’s peak potential is different from her normal combat output, and Thaedus’s strategic influence is different from a clean fight record.

The 10 strongest characters, ranked

1. Omnipotus

Omnipotus combines superhuman strength and near-invulnerability with energy absorption, matter transmutation, and the ability to reshape landscapes. That breadth makes him an unusually difficult opponent to answer with strength alone. ComicBook.com’s recent ranking describes his defeat as requiring a coordinated response and strategic targeting, rather than a straightforward one-on-one victory. That makes him a compelling choice for the top spot under a method that values power scope as well as fighting ability.

2. Thragg

For a ranking focused strictly on direct combat, Thragg could reasonably be placed first. ComicBook.com describes him as the strongest Viltrumite, trained from birth, and recounts his killing Battle Beast and Thaedus as well as fighting Mark and Omni-Man. Mark ultimately killed him by taking him into the sun and biting his throat, at great risk. The circumstances of that final fight matter: it was not an uncomplicated demonstration that Mark could simply overpower him.

3. Battle Beast

Battle Beast’s record against elite opponents puts him near the top. His debut included defeating the Guardians of the Globe and nearly killing Invincible. In an extended fight, he pushed Thragg to his physical limit, although Thragg ultimately killed him. That result supports placing him below Thragg while still recognizing how exceptional their fight was.

4. Conquest

Conquest is an exceptionally old and experienced Viltrumite who nearly killed Invincible and caused extensive destruction, even while injured. Invincible eventually killed him. Those conditions make comparisons easy to oversimplify: neither Conquest’s damaged state nor Mark’s eventual victory should be treated as a clean measure of their usual relative strength.

5. Allen the Alien

Allen’s power changes substantially over the story. After near-fatal injuries, he becomes significantly stronger and eventually fights Viltrumites competitively. He still does not dominate them in the way Thragg does. His placement therefore reflects his later growth, not his earlier performance.

6. Atom Eve

Atom Eve’s subatomic matter manipulation gives her a broader toolkit than a conventional physical fighter: she can transmute matter, create shields and weapons, fly, and heal. Mental blocks normally limit her ability to use that power. In extreme distress or near death those blocks can fall; during the Conquest fight, she died and resurrected. Her peak is formidable, but it should not be confused with her ordinary combat output, and her maximum potential has not been fully tested in the account used here.

7. Mark Grayson / Invincible

Mark’s rank depends heavily on when he is measured. Early in the series, Omni-Man could easily beat him; by the climax, Mark kills Thragg after taking him into the sun. This ranking uses late-series Mark, not the teenager at the start of his career. Skybound’s official page identifies Mark as a teenage superhero whose powers begin to appear at 17 and derive from his father’s Viltrumite heritage: Skybound’s Invincible series page.

8. Omni-Man / Nolan Grayson

Nolan is Mark’s father and a powerful Viltrumite whose early superiority to Mark is clear in the story. His later role in the Viltrumite War further establishes his combat importance. Skybound’s initial premise calls Omni-Man the most powerful superhero on Earth, but that is an Earth-specific description of the early setup—not an all-series verdict placing him above every character on this list. The publisher’s series page identifies Nolan as Omni-Man and Mark’s father.

9. Argall

Argall’s case is historical rather than based on a contemporary fight shown in the cited comparison. ComicBook.com describes him as the first emperor and a legendary warrior whom no Viltrumite could challenge for thousands of years. The account says Thaedus killed him through betrayal, not in a direct contest. That history supports a high placement, but it is less directly comparable than the documented fights above.

10. Thaedus

Thaedus can fight Viltrumites, but his importance is especially strategic. He founded the Coalition and used the Scourge Virus, changing the balance of power on a much wider scale than an individual duel. That makes him a fit for a broad ranking of power and threat; in a strict hand-to-hand list, his strategic achievements would not establish this position.

Why other rankings may look different

  • One-on-one strength: A list that prioritizes direct combat may put Thragg above Omnipotus, whose top placement here rests partly on breadth of abilities and the scale of the threat he presents.
  • Peak versus typical performance: Late-series Mark and peak-condition Allen rank differently from their earlier selves. Atom Eve’s exceptional moments do not represent her routine combat output.
  • Clean victories versus complicated fights: Injury, teamwork, and extreme circumstances change what a win or loss demonstrates. The fights involving Battle Beast, Thragg, Conquest, and Mark need that context.
  • Combat versus strategic impact: Thaedus’s virus and coalition-building matter to the story’s power balance, but they are not proof that he beats every fighter in a duel.

Where to read the Battle Beast–Thragg matchup

Invincible Volume 20 (New Edition) collects issues #115–120 and highlights Battle Beast going toe-to-toe with Thragg. It is a useful partial read for that matchup, not a collection of every character’s defining feats. See the Simon & Schuster edition page for the collection details.
