It is a dated fan wishlist, not an official announcement, a measured Reddit poll, or a popularity ranking. The ideas below—including proposed typings and redesigns—are speculation, not confirmed game content.
TechTimes published its list on November 1, 2024, before the later discussion of returning Mega Evolutions in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. In March 2025, Destructoid distinguished previously shown returning forms from possible new ones; that article does not establish the game’s or any DLC’s status in October 2026. The ten entries here therefore describe what the 2024 article said fans wanted, not a current poll or a promise of new forms.
The list offers no voting method, sample size, or vote totals. Its order is the source article’s presentation, not evidence that one candidate was more popular than another. Read the November 2024 TechTimes list; for the distinction between returning and potential new forms at the time, see Destructoid’s March 2025 overview.
The individual Pokémon on the wishlist
Zoroark
TechTimes likened Zoroark to “Generation 5’s Lucario” and described demand for a Mega form as strong, pointing to its shape-shifting identity and wolf-like appearance. That is the article’s characterization, not a measured measure of fan opinion.

Meganium
The article framed Meganium as less celebrated than fellow Johto starters Feraligatr and Typhlosion, and criticized its moves and stats. It floated Dragon/Grass or Grass/Fairy as hypothetical typings that might improve its competitive prospects. Neither the criticism nor those type ideas represents an official design plan.
Flygon
Flygon was described as a recurring missed opportunity for a Mega Evolution. The article noted its Ground/Dragon typing and vulnerability to Ice moves, then proposed Bug/Dragon as one possible alternative. That is fan speculation. Flygon also appeared in an indexed Reddit excerpt asking about new Mega Evolutions, but that example does not show how widely the idea was shared. The May 2024 r/PokemonZA discussion is one limited example.

- As you catch, train, and battle Pokémon, there will be plenty of people to meet too—like AZ, the enigmatic owner of Hotel Z.
Golisopod
TechTimes called Golisopod underused and imagined a distinctive Mega design or an ability that could change its battle role. Those are possibilities suggested by the article, not known features.
Spinda
The list’s more unusual pick was Spinda. TechTimes suggested that a larger form or additional spinning patterns could make for a memorable redesign; both were illustrative ideas rather than predictions backed by official information.

Dragonite
The article compared Dragonite with pseudo-legendary Pokémon that have Mega forms and noted that Dragonite has no alternate form in its evolutionary line. That comparison supplied the case for including it on the wishlist.
Volcarona
TechTimes highlighted Volcarona’s Fire/Bug typing and competitive relevance, and imagined a Mega design with more expansive wings. Volcarona also appears in an indexed Reddit excerpt about desired candidates, another example of discussion rather than representative evidence. The January 2025 r/PokemonZA predictions thread provides that limited context.

Klefki
The article proposed making Klefki’s key and keychain larger for a Mega redesign. It also noted that some fans dislike the Pokémon’s design; that is subjective opinion, not a general verdict.

Kalos starters: Chesnaught, Greninja, and Delphox
TechTimes grouped all three Kalos starters as a single entry and pitched Mega forms as a way to give them a boost. The article also made a historical claim about how few Generation VI Pokémon could Mega Evolve, but that claim is not needed to explain the wishlist and is not presented here as a current Pokédex fact.

- An ambitious new adventure set in Lumiose City awaits in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, coming to Nintendo Switch in late 2025. Explore the city, unravel its secrets and battle Pokémon like never before!
- An urban redevelopment plan is underway in Lumiose City! The goal: to turn it into a place Pokémon and people can truly share. Shortly after arriving, you’ll choose from one of these partner Pokémon to accompany you on your journey – Chikorita, Tepig or Totodile.
- Together, you can explore the streets of this vast city or visit Wild Zones – habitats where you’ll encounter wild Pokémon. To catch them, aim carefully and throw a Poké Ball or take them on with the help of the Pokémon on your team.
- For the first time ever, Trainers and their Pokémon will move around and take action in real time during battles. Pokémon will unleash their moves when their Trainers command them to. In addition to type matchups, there will be new mechanics to consider, such as the precise timing for swapping out your Pokémon or using moves, the different lengths of time moves will take to launch, and how big an area the moves will impact.
- In Lumiose City, Pokémon can go beyond Evolution by undergoing Mega Evolution! When a Trainer’s Key Stone resonates with the Mega Stone held by their Pokémon, the Pokémon will do more than just change shape and size – it will unlock a new level of power, which could turn the tide of battle!
Sinnoh starters: Empoleon, Infernape, and Torterra
The final entry grouped the three Sinnoh starters. The 2024 article said they had no prior Mega forms at the time and suggested new forms would appeal to fans. This, too, is a pitch for hypothetical content, not evidence that such forms were announced.
Quick Recap
How to read the list
- It contains ten entries, not ten individual Pokémon: Chesnaught, Greninja, and Delphox share one entry, as do Empoleon, Infernape, and Torterra.
- It records an editorial selection: the source gives no polling method, sample size, or popularity data, so it cannot establish a Reddit consensus or rank fan demand.
- Its creative details are proposals: type changes, abilities, and visual redesigns are fan-facing possibilities, not confirmed mechanics or designs.
- It is dated: the article was published in November 2024. Later discussion of returning forms does not by itself confirm any of these candidates as new content.
