For Halloween 2025, the ten picks below were reported as additions to Netflix’s US library during October. “New” means new to that service at the time—not necessarily newly made. The dates are historical, and this list does not confirm that any title is still available now or in other countries.

Netflix US horror additions reported for October 2025

The titles and dates below come from What’s on Netflix’s October 4, 2025 guide. Five films were listed for October 1; the rest were scheduled for October 2, 9, 16, and 23.

Film Reported date What it’s about
The Wretched (2019) October 2 A rebellious teenager suspects a neighbor is possessed by an ancient witch.
Christmas Bloody Christmas (2022) October 9 A malfunctioning robotic Santa turns violent, making this an off-season holiday-horror choice.
Prevenge (2016) October 9 A darkly comic British horror film about a pregnant widow who believes her unborn child is directing her murders.
Dracula (1979) October 1 Frank Langella plays the Count in a story set in England in 1913.
I Still Know What You Did Last Summer (1998) October 1 The Fisherman returns as Julie and Ray try to move on after their earlier ordeal.
The Sentinel (1977) October 1 A woman moves into a New York building where unsettling neighbors and disturbances conceal a sinister secret.
The Strangers (2008) October 1 A couple’s quiet stay at an isolated home becomes a fight for survival against masked intruders.
The Elixir (2025) October 23 An Indonesian family’s medicinal business and a new potion are connected to a zombie outbreak. The source guide’s heading spells the title “The Elixer.”
Red Dragon (2002) October 1 Retired FBI agent Will Graham seeks Hannibal Lecter’s help to pursue the Tooth Fairy killer.
I Know What You Did Last Summer (2025) October 16 After friends conceal a fatal car accident, someone begins pursuing them a year later.

How to choose by horror style

For supernatural atmosphere

Dracula and The Sentinel are the older picks for viewers drawn to sinister settings and supernatural unease. The Wretched offers a more recent witch-centered premise.

For slashers and masked threats

The two I Know What You Did Last Summer films offer related but distinct entries: the 1998 sequel follows Julie and Ray after the first film’s events, while the 2025 film centers on a new group hiding a fatal crash. The Strangers takes a home-invasion approach rather than a returning-figure story.

For zombies, crime, or dark comedy

The Elixir is the list’s zombie-outbreak pick. Red Dragon leans into a serial-killer investigation, while Prevenge brings dark comedy into its violent premise. Christmas Bloody Christmas is the offbeat choice for a murderous-machine scenario.

What “new” means—and what it doesn’t

Most of the ten films predate 2025 and were presented as new Netflix US additions for that October. The Elixir and I Know What You Did Last Summer are the two 2025 titles in the list. The reported release dates describe the October 2025 schedule, not present-day catalog status.

Availability can differ by country and change over time. Netflix’s Halloween 2025 guide used a Scare Meter across a broader set of recommendations, from “Not Scary” to “Very Scary,” but it did not assign ratings to these ten films. Other October 2025 streaming premieres

These titles were separate from the Netflix list. Hulu’s Huluween 2025 announcement listed Stay for October 8 and The Hand That Rocks the Cradle for October 22, along with The Man in My Basement. Rotten Tomatoes’ October 2025 streaming calendar listed Shudder’s V/H/S Halloween on October 3, O.T.H.E.R. on October 17, and Hell House LLC: Lineage on October 30. These are historical premiere listings, not confirmation of current availability.
