This ranking weighs storytelling, vocal and technical performance, production, emotional force, cultural reach, and replay value—not chart position alone. It focuses on tracks led by Kendrick Lamar, including his prominent soundtrack collaboration with SZA, “All the Stars.” The order is an editorial judgment, not an objective canon; the aim is to show the range of his work across a catalog that runs from good kid, m.A.A.d city (2012) to GNX (2024).
10. “DNA.”
“DNA.” is a compact showcase for Lamar’s technical range. Over Mike WiLL Made-It’s trap production, he shifts cadences and intensifies his delivery, making the track’s restless energy part of its argument. Spotify’s 2024 page described its vivid imagery and varied flows, and recorded 1,142,857,561 streams at that time—a dated platform count, not a current total. It earns a place for the force of its performance and the way the production gives that performance room to turn sharp and confrontational.

9. “All the Stars”
With SZA, Lamar made a polished, expansive soundtrack collaboration that balances pop immediacy with a more searching tone. Its melodic scale gives it a different texture from his most tightly wound solo tracks, while the pairing keeps the song in conversation rather than making it a conventional solo showcase. Official Charts lists it as his biggest song in the UK by chart units, with 2 million UK units and a No. 5 peak on the UK Singles Chart; that popularity is useful context, but not the reason for its placement here.
8. “The Greatest”
“The Greatest” is among the less obvious choices in a Kendrick essentials list, but its sleek, propulsive feel shows how effectively Lamar can work within a leaner, dance-oriented frame. Its UK chart presence is a reminder that his catalog travels beyond album-centered rap audiences: Official Charts places it third on its UK all-time songs list by chart units. That metric measures popularity in one territory, not artistic merit; the song’s appeal here is its streamlined momentum and the contrast it offers against his denser storytelling tracks.

7. “Bitch, Don’t Kill My Vibe”
This track turns a plea for peace and focus into a memorable, unhurried anthem. Lamar’s controlled delivery and the spacious production make the song feel both intimate and easy to return to, a balance that helps explain its lasting reach. It also demonstrates why a ranking based on lyrics alone misses part of the craft: atmosphere, pacing, and sound are integral to how the song communicates. The Ringer included it in its 2025 ranking, a useful point of comparison rather than a definitive verdict.
6. “Money Trees”
Built around a relaxed, loping groove, “Money Trees” draws the listener into the temptations and pressures of the world Lamar describes. Its storytelling gains strength from the contrast between the inviting beat and the harder realities inside the verses. The song rewards attention to detail without sacrificing replay value, and its place among the tracks featured in Official Charts’ UK top 40 list underscores its broad audience without turning chart performance into a quality score.

5. “HUMBLE.”
“HUMBLE.” is blunt, spare, and instantly recognizable. Its clipped beat and command-like hook make the track feel much more direct than Lamar’s layered narrative work, while his rhythmic control keeps the minimal arrangement charged. Official Charts reports 1.9 million UK chart units and a No. 6 UK Singles Chart peak for the 2017 release. Those figures establish its scale in the UK; its higher position here rests on how efficiently its sound and performance create impact.
4. “m.A.A.d city”
Few tracks capture the dramatic, scene-by-scene storytelling of good kid, m.A.A.d city as vividly as “m.A.A.d city.” Lamar shifts perspective and intensity across the song, turning its production changes into part of the narrative rather than decoration. The result feels volatile and specific: the music carries the listener through the tension of the story, while the detail in the writing gives the track its lasting weight. It also appears among the songs in Official Charts’ UK top 40 list.

3. “Wesley’s Theory”
As the opening track of To Pimp a Butterfly, “Wesley’s Theory” announces an album willing to move between funk, jazz, satire, and personal reflection. Its exuberant production is not just a backdrop: the song uses that richness to set up a sharper examination of fame, money, and exploitation. The Ringer’s 2025 list also highlights it, and its inclusion makes sense in a ranking that considers how a track sounds as well as what it says. For listeners approaching the album, it offers an immediate sense of its scale and ambition.
2. “Alright”
“Alright” joins a buoyant, memorable refrain to a song shaped by struggle and resilience. Its public life became part of its meaning: Apple Music recounts Lamar reflecting on people singing it in the streets. “A lot of people don’t have voices out there,” he said. “So to see them actually express themselves through song, through lyrics that I wrote?” That context distinguishes it from a standard hit; the song’s cultural reach is inseparable from the way people made it their own.

1. “Sing About Me, I’m Dying of Thirst”
This two-part centerpiece is Lamar’s most complete convergence of narrative, performance, and emotional force. The first section gives space to distinct voices and unresolved grief; the second turns toward spiritual exhaustion and the possibility of change. Its patient structure asks for more attention than a quick-hit single, but that patience is the point: the song builds a world, lets its consequences settle, and gives the album’s storytelling a human scale. It stands at No. 1 because it makes the strongest case for Lamar as both a technically controlled rapper and a writer able to hold conflicting lives in view.
