These ten games feature Venom in different ways: some let you control him, some cast him as a boss or villain, and others put a symbiote invasion at the center of the story. If playing as Venom is your priority, start with Ultimate Spider-Man or the Venom DLC for Marvel’s Midnight Suns. If you want a modern Spider-Man story built around Venom as an antagonist, choose Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
How Venom appears across these games
“Featuring Venom” does not always mean “play as Venom.” The list includes direct control, a downloadable playable character, roster appearances, boss fights, and stories centered on symbiotes. It is a curated selection rather than an objective ranking; the entries are grouped to help you find the kind of Venom experience you want.
- Control Venom: Ultimate Spider-Man; Marvel’s Midnight Suns with its DLC; Marvel vs. Capcom 2; Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2; LEGO Marvel Super Heroes; Disney Infinity 3.0; and Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects.
- Face Venom or his symbiotes: Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man: Web of Shadows.
- Play Venom in a classic crossover fighter: Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes.
For older releases, current retail stock, regional digital availability, and compatibility with modern hardware are not established here. Check the exact edition and platform before buying.
The best games featuring Venom
1. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 — a major modern Venom villain
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is the strongest choice if you want a contemporary, story-driven appearance. Venom is a major villain, but the playable leads are Peter Parker and Miles Morales; this is not a full Venom-player campaign. PlayStation’s US product page lists the PS5 version and an October 20, 2023 release date. Marvel’s game page also lists a PC version. PlayStation’s product page and Marvel’s game page provide platform and story details.
#1 Best Overall
2. Ultimate Spider-Man — a separate Venom storyline
This 2005 open-world game is a standout if you specifically want to control Venom. Its structure gives Spider-Man and Venom concurrent storylines, with Venom’s sections playing differently from Peter’s and emphasizing destructive power. It is a legacy release, so verify the platform and availability in your region before making plans to play it.
3. Marvel’s Midnight Suns — Venom as a DLC hero
Venom first appears as a boss in the main game, then becomes playable through the second DLC pack, Redemption. This is a tactical strategy game, not an action brawler. 2K identifies Venom as DLC Pack #2 and a playable hero in its Season Pass announcement. PlayStation’s US add-on listing says Redemption requires Marvel’s Midnight Suns and is included in the Season Pass; it lists February 23, 2023 as the PS5 add-on’s release date. See the PlayStation Store listing for those requirements.

4. Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes — playable Venom in a crossover fighter
Venom is a playable fighter in this crossover, bringing symbiote attacks to a roster-based fighting game. It is a classic rather than a current-release option, so check which platforms or editions you can access locally; current availability is not established here.
5. Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 — add Venom to a team
This team-based action game is a fit for players who want Venom as part of a larger superhero roster rather than the star of a solo story. Venom can be added to the team, making his appeal depend on the group combat and character combinations as much as on the character himself.

6. LEGO Marvel Super Heroes — a lighter, unlockable Venom
LEGO Marvel Super Heroes offers a lighter take on the character. Venom becomes playable after you beat his mission, so he is an unlockable roster character rather than the focus of the campaign. Confirm the platform and edition when checking for a copy.
7. Disney Infinity 3.0 — Venom in a toys-to-life game
Venom is a playable character in Disney Infinity 3.0, a toys-to-life game built around physical figures and accessories. 8. Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects — Venom in a 2005 fighting game
This 2005 fighting game is another older option with Venom listed as playable. It broadens the list beyond modern Spider-Man adventures, but details about platform-specific versions and present-day access are not established here; confirm them before seeking out a copy.
9. Spider-Man: Web of Shadows — a story driven by a symbiote invasion
Spider-Man: Web of Shadows is included for its symbiote-heavy story, not as a confirmed pick for direct Venom control. Venom’s invasion of Manhattan and the resulting symbiote threat put the creature’s influence at the center of the conflict. Choose it for a city-scale symbiote crisis rather than a Venom-player campaign.
