This list sticks to the anime-accessible cast and keeps explanations spoiler-light.
How this ranking works
The order is an editorial judgment, not a canonical hierarchy: no official ranking or audience poll is established by the sources cited here. The focus is on how well each character supports the story and ensemble, rather than combat ability. The official English anime character page provides the cast boundary for this list; later manga developments are not used.
10 best Dandadan characters, ranked
1. Momo Ayase
Momo earns the top spot because her confidence, quick instincts, and emotional openness make her an engaging center for the series. The official introduction describes her as a high-school girl from a family of spirit mediums. She believes in ghosts but not aliens, and her encounter with Serpoians awakens hidden psychic abilities. Her role brings both supernatural action and a grounded point of view to the story. Official series introduction; official character profile.
2. Ken “Okarun” Takakura
Okarun is Momo’s co-lead and a strong counterpoint to her: he believes in aliens but not ghosts. His occult enthusiasm gives the story its initial friction, while his chase with Turbo Granny sets up the curse that changes his life. The contrast between his earnest nature and the strange situations he faces makes him more than a premise-driven sidekick. Official series introduction; official character profile.

3. Seiko Ayase
Seiko is Momo’s grandmother, a spirit medium whose experience and practical advice give the younger characters a reliable anchor. She can also place a barrier around her house, making her supernatural knowledge consequential rather than merely decorative. Her mix of family authority and competence brings a different energy to the ensemble. Official character profile.
4. Turbo Granny
Turbo Granny is memorable because she is both a frightening supernatural presence and a central part of Okarun’s curse story. The official profile describes her as a yokai who used to appear unexpectedly around Japan and resides in a tunnel, bound together with a spirit. Her early conflict with Okarun gives the series a vivid catalyst—and an antagonist whose presence continues to matter to the premise. Official character profile.

5. Aira Shiratori
Aira adds friction and personality to the growing group. A popular girl at school, she develops abilities after picking up an object and initially mistakes Momo’s psychic powers for something demonic. That misunderstanding gives her a distinct entrance into the supernatural story and sets up an unusual connection with Momo. Official character profile.
6. Jiji
Jiji’s personal history ties him closely to Momo: he is her childhood friend and first crush. He enters the supernatural plot when he seeks Seiko’s help after encountering a spirit in the house he has moved into. That combination of an existing relationship and a new paranormal problem gives him a natural place in the ensemble. Official character profile.

7. Acrobatic Silky
Acrobatic Silky stands out among the supernatural threats listed on the official anime character page. The official profile establishes her place in the cast, but the introductory material does not support a detailed account of her history here. Her inclusion recognizes the distinct visual and supernatural variety she brings to the anime-accessible roster without leaning on later revelations. Official character page.
8. Serpoians
The Serpoians are important to the story’s central premise because their abduction of Momo is tied to the awakening of her psychic abilities. Their alien identity also gives the series a counterweight to its ghosts and yokai, reflecting the opposing beliefs that bring Momo and Okarun together. Official character page.

9. Dover Demon
Dover Demon adds to the series’ eclectic roster of supernatural and extraterrestrial characters. The official English anime page lists the character, but its introductory descriptions do not establish a fuller character arc. This ranking gives the figure credit for distinctiveness while avoiding unsupported claims about motivations or later developments. Official character page.
10. Taro
Taro rounds out the list as one of the characters named on the official English anime page. The available introductory material supports his place in the anime-accessible cast, but not a detailed account of his personal story. His position here reflects the breadth of the ensemble rather than a claim that he outranks other characters by popularity or power. Official character page.
Why this is an anime-accessible ranking
The official English anime page also lists characters such as Manjiro, Flatwoods Monster, Hana, Naki Kito, Evil Eye, and Chiquitita. The Japanese Shonen Jump+ character introduction includes additional names, including Vamola, Kinta, Rin, and Zuma, alongside story developments beyond basic anime introductions. Because those later materials can reveal more of the manga’s story, this ranking stays with the anime-accessible cast rather than treating the manga roster as spoiler-free. Official English anime character page; Shonen Jump+ character introduction (Japanese).
