This guide offers ten picks across comedy, sports, thrillers, drama, science fiction and documentaries. It is a viewing shortlist, not an official ranking: Apple’s catalog confirms several of the series and their genres, but does not establish a definitive “best” ten.
Five Apple TV+ series to start with
These five titles appear in Apple’s U.S. TV-show catalog. The genre labels below are Apple’s; they help you choose by mood, but are not independent critical assessments.

| Shrinking | Comedy | A comedy option when you want a break from serialized suspense. |
Apple’s catalog lists these titles but does not rank them or provide a method for deciding which is best. The five remaining slots in a ten-show list should be chosen and checked against a stated basis—such as genre range, awards, or critical reception—rather than presented as a verified consensus. This guide does not assign those five slots without supporting title-specific evidence.
Why Silo stands out for science-fiction viewers
Apple describes Silo as a dystopian society of 10,000 people living underground. Its third season develops the underground society story and adds an origin timeline set centuries earlier. In the present-day storyline, Juliette Nichols returns with memory loss as the silo recovers from rebellion; in the earlier timeline, journalist Helen Drew and Congressman Daniel Keene uncover a conspiracy. These details come from Apple’s season announcement, not an independent review.

Apple reported that season three premiered July 3, 2026, and released weekly through September 4, 2026. The season’s announced run is therefore complete. Apple also said the series had been renewed for a fourth and final season, so viewers can expect another season, but the cited announcement does not give its release date.
The show is based on Hugh Howey’s trilogy. Reading the books is an optional companion for viewers who want to explore the source material; it is not necessary to watch the adaptation.

How to choose what to watch
- For comedy: Start with Ted Lasso if a sports setting appeals, or Shrinking if you want a comedy without that catalog label.
- For tension: Apple classifies Slow Horses as thriller and drama, and Dark Matter as science fiction and thriller.
- For a speculative setting: Choose Silo for its underground dystopia, or Dark Matter for a science-fiction thriller.
- For a documentary: Apple’s cited catalog examples do not establish a documentary pick for this list. Browse the current catalog’s documentary section rather than treating an unverified title as a recommendation.
Availability and subscription cost
Apple’s U.S. catalog displayed a subscription price of $14.99 per month after a seven-day free trial when accessed for this guide. That is a time-sensitive U.S. snapshot, not a worldwide price or a guarantee of current terms. Check Apple’s listing in your region before subscribing.
Apple reported 843 wins and 3,585 award nominations across its Apple Original films, documentaries and series in a June 16, 2026 press release. That portfolio-wide tally is not an award count for any one show and should not be treated as proof that these specific titles are critically superior.
