No official ranking orders eye abilities across anime franchises, because each series defines its own power system and none of them shares a common scale. The order below is an editorial judgment. It applies one rubric to four candidates: the Rinnegan from Naruto ranks first, the Six Eyes from Jujutsu Kaisen second, the Sharingan family from Naruto third, and Geass from Code Geass fourth. A different weighting of the rubric would change the order, and the reasons are set out so you can make that adjustment yourself.
Why no cross-series ranking exists
Chakra in Naruto, cursed energy in Jujutsu Kaisen and the Geass power in Code Geass do not share units, limits or a shared hierarchy. A placement across them therefore says less about raw power than about how much each eye does on its own terms within its series, and how much of its effect depends on something else. Any list that claims an objective order is making that choice without saying so.
The rubric
Each candidate is judged on four axes. The scores are qualitative. Points are not assigned, because a number would suggest a precision that the series themselves do not provide.
| Axis | What it measures | How it is applied here |
|---|---|---|
| Scale | What the ability has demonstrably affected in its own series | Higher when it decides major fights or turns the plot |
| Versatility | The range of uses: perception, defense, control, mobility or offense | A wider range scores higher |
| Reliability and constraints | Activation conditions, costs, counters and duration as shown in canon | Fewer or lighter constraints score higher |
| Dependence | Whether the ability needs another technique, a particular user or a franchise-specific energy system | Less dependence scores higher. Borrowed power is excluded, so only the eye’s own contribution counts |
The exclusion in the last row matters most. A character who wins fights through a separate technique, physical gifts or a second power should not have that strength credited to the eye. This is the main reason the list separates an eye’s described effect from the full combat record of the person who carries it.

The ranked candidates
1. Rinnegan (Naruto)
The Rinnegan takes first place because it scores highest on scale and versatility. Secondary references describe it as one of the most exalted dōjutsu in Naruto, and they associate it with the Six Paths abilities. Those abilities give the eye the broadest range of uses of any entry here, spanning several kinds of effect rather than one.
Its limits are the weakest-documented part of the entry. The sources consulted do not give a complete, itemized list of its constraints, so this placement does not assign a cost or duration. Its strongest displays also depend on the wielder’s own chakra and on the Six Paths powers that come with the eye. The ranking counts only what the eye is described as doing, not every feat of a character who carries it. Nagato, who appears as Pain, is one of the best-known wielders, and a judgment about the eye should be read against that specific user rather than against the Rinnegan in general.
Rank #2
- Naruto Uzumaki, as seen in "NARUTO: Shippuden," rejoins S.H.Figuarts with all new joint technology
- [Set Contents] Main Body, Three left and four right optional hands, Four optional expressions, Kunai, "Rasengan" effect, Crossed arm parts
- Stands approximately 5.5" tall
- The product box will have a Bandai Namco warning label, which is proof that you are purchasing an officially licensed product
2. Six Eyes (Jujutsu Kaisen)
The Six Eyes ranks second. A fan-maintained reference describes it as an innate trait of the Gojo clan that grants extrasensory perception, including detailed observation of cursed energy and precise control over cursed energy. That control is described as important for using Limitless, the technique most closely tied to the eye’s reputation.
This is why the Six Eyes scores lower on versatility and reliability than its reputation suggests. Its described effects are mainly perception and control rather than independent offense or the alteration of reality, and its combat impact leans heavily on Limitless. Ranking it above the Sharingan family reflects the scale of its role in its series. Ranking it below the Rinnegan reflects its narrower, more support-oriented range. The description comes from a fan-maintained reference rather than an official publication, so check the exact wording against the manga and anime before quoting it.

3. Sharingan family (Naruto)
The Sharingan takes third place, but only as a family of abilities. Secondary sources identify copying techniques and genjutsu among the Sharingan’s abilities, which gives it a useful range: copying can serve offense, defense or learning, and genjutsu works through illusion. The forms differ in what they do, so this entry should not be read as one undifferentiated power. The base Sharingan and the evolved forms, most notably the Mangekyō Sharingan, are described differently in the series, and placing the family as one unit would hide that difference.
The constraints are the reason it does not rank higher. The series widely presents the evolved forms as costly to the user’s eyesight, but the sources reviewed here do not establish form-by-form limits, activation conditions or costs in enough detail to score each one separately. Genjutsu depends on the target seeing the user’s eyes, which ties its reliability to eye contact.
Rank #4

Rinne Sharingan appears in some secondary references as a distinct ocular ability. Its name and canon status are described inconsistently across sources, so this article treats it within the Sharingan family rather than ranking it as a separate entry.
4. Geass (Code Geass)
Geass takes fourth place as the leading non-Naruto candidate. Its scale is high, because the power drives the central plot of Code Geass. Its versatility is narrower than the other entries, since it works mainly as a command-based form of control rather than as perception, defense or offense. Its key constraint is direct eye contact: the target must see the user’s eyes for the command to take hold. Its dependence is also high, because the power is tied to a contract with C.C., which makes it a power linked to a particular user and arrangement.

Geass ranks below the Sharingan family because its narrower range of uses outweighs its scale under this rubric. Readers who weight dramatic plot impact more heavily could reasonably place it higher.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Where to verify the details
Because the placements depend on exact wording, check each ability against the original material before relying on the order:
- Naruto manga volumes and the anime episodes in which each eye is first shown and explained, for the Rinnegan, Sharingan family and Rinne Sharingan.
- Jujutsu Kaisen manga chapters and anime episodes for the Six Eyes and Limitless, including the scenes where cursed-energy perception is shown.
- Code Geass episodes that establish the rules of Geass and the terms of the contract with C.C.
- Official publisher and studio guidebooks and character databases, which are the most reliable place to confirm current terminology.
A reader who values versatility above scale, or who counts Limitless or the Six Paths powers as part of the eye, will reach a different order. The rubric is set out above so that such a change can be made transparently.
