Whether you can watch it depends on your country, and the sources checked do not confirm the “streaming hit” part of the headline. Here is what is verified, what is not, and how to check both for yourself.
What Love & Death is
Netflix describes Love & Death as a drama based on a true story. It is set in 1980s Texas and follows a small-town housewife who is yearning for more in life and whose love affair ends in murder. Elizabeth Olsen, Jesse Plemons, and Lily Rabe star, and David E. Kelley is credited as creator. Netflix’s detailed listing also includes Patrick Fugit, Krysten Ritter, Tom Pelphrey, and Elizabeth Marvel in the cast.

For a documentary audience, the key point is the genre. This is a scripted drama that dramatizes real events. The “based on a true story” label tells you the story has a real-world origin. It does not make the series a documentary, and its characters and scenes should not be read as a record of what happened.

Where to watch it
Netflix’s catalog is regional. The title page for Love & Death displayed a notice that the series was unavailable in the country of the viewer who checked it, so a listing on Netflix’s site does not guarantee that you can stream it. Check it this way:
- Open the show’s Netflix title page in a browser, or search for “Love & Death” in the Netflix app.
- If the page offers a play button and loads the episode list, the title is available in your current country.
- If the page shows an “unavailable” notice, the series is not offered in your country at the time of checking. Catalogs change, so recheck periodically.
Aggregator sites give a second view but are less reliable. JustWatch’s U.S. listing, checked September 11, 2026, reported the series on both Netflix and Max. Treat that as a dated snapshot of one country, not a current or global statement.

Is it a hit?
The sources checked do not establish that Love & Death is a hit on Netflix. No title-specific viewing figure and no dated ranking for this series were found. Netflix does publish performance data, but each type measures something different, and only some can be attached to a single show.

The Netflix Tudum Global Top 10 is the best source for a ranking claim, because it is dated and labeled by region. Its own notice warns that some titles may not be available in all regions, and the charts cover selected territories. The chart page retrieved for this article did not include Love & Death.

How to test the claim yourself
- Open the Netflix Tudum Global Top 10 page.
- Select the week and the country or region you want to check.
- Search the list for Love & Death. If it appears, note the rank, the week, and the region.
- If it does not appear, the title was not in that week’s top ranks for that chart. That does not mean the show was unpopular, only that it was not in that list.
A verified ranking, with its week and region, is the only kind of evidence that supports the word “hit.” Without one, describe the series as a Netflix-listed limited drama.
