The headline says Robyn and Kody Brown have taken a “major step” amid marital struggles, but it never names that step, and the reporting we could find does not confirm one. As of October 2026, no primary source we could locate, such as TLC or a direct statement from either Brown, establishes what the step is. Recent entertainment coverage has raised one possibility, that the couple may not appear in Sister Wives Season 21. That claim is unconfirmed, and it is not established that it is the event the headline describes.
What the headline does not tell you
“Major step” is a headline phrase, not a description of an event. It could refer to a decision about their marriage, a decision about their participation in the show, or something else entirely. The headline itself gives no date, no source, and no quotation, so a reader cannot tell from it whether the step has happened, is planned, or is rumor.

What recent coverage claims about Season 21
Recent secondary articles report that Kody and Robyn Brown may be absent from Sister Wives Season 21. Several points about that claim matter for how much weight it can carry:
- It appears in secondary outlets. We did not find a statement from TLC, the network that airs the series, confirming the cast change.
- It does not come with a verified reason. The coverage we found does not establish why the couple would be absent.
- It is not tied to a confirmed relationship decision. Nothing we found connects the reported absence to a step the couple has taken in their marriage.
Taken alone, these articles show what some outlets are reporting. They do not establish what happened.

Three different things the headline could mean
Readers often merge these categories. Keeping them apart makes the current evidence easier to read.
| Possible meaning | What it would look like | Status in available reporting |
|---|---|---|
| A relationship decision | A public step by Robyn and Kody about their marriage, such as a separation or an agreement on terms | Not established. No direct statement from either Brown was found. |
| A show-cast decision | An official change to their participation in Season 21, announced by TLC or confirmed by the family | Not confirmed. Only secondary outlets report a possible absence. |
| Speculation | Inference drawn from unnamed sources, recaps, or social-media interpretation | The Season 21 absence reports sit here until an official source confirms them. |
Don’t confuse this with the 2016 therapy report
Coverage of the franchise includes an older account that is easy to mix up with the current headline. A 2016 Hollywood Life recap reported that Meri and Janelle Brown met with their family therapist, Nancy Hunterton, to discuss jealousy and their relationship. That meeting involved two different sister wives, in a different year, and it says nothing about Robyn and Kody’s marriage now. It is useful only as background on how the family has discussed relationship strain on the show in the past.

How to check whether a step has been confirmed
- Check TLC’s official Sister Wives pages for the Season 21 cast listing and episode descriptions. A cast change confirmed by the network will appear there or in a network release.
- Look for statements from Kody or Robyn on their own verified public accounts. A statement from either of them would be a primary source for any relationship decision.
- Compare any report against the category in the table above. A report that names no source, no date, and no specific action should be treated as unconfirmed.
- Be cautious with recap sites and aggregators that repeat earlier claims without linking to a primary source. Repetition across outlets does not make a claim verified.
Until one of these sources names a specific step, the accurate description of the headline is that it reports a development without confirming what it is.
Full-length documentary and reality coverage on this site will be updated if an official source identifies the step.
