A watch-identification page describes the screen watch as a vintage gold Citizen 8110A Bullhead, and a watch publication describes a gold chronograph on a bund strap and names it as a Citizen 8110. The film is set in Los Angeles in 1969, which makes the watch’s design a noticeable period mismatch.
Which watch Cliff Booth wears
Cliff Booth, the stuntman and sometimes driver played by Pitt, wears a gold bullhead-style chronograph with a bund (leather cuff-style) strap. Two independent identifications point to the same model family:
- Time and Tide Watches identified the piece as a Citizen 8110 chronograph in a piece by Senior Author Nick Kenyon. Read the Time and Tide Watches article.
- Watch ID, a database of on-screen watches, lists the film watch as a vintage gold Citizen 8110A Bullhead. See the Watch ID entry for the film.
8110 or 8110A: what the difference means for you
The two identifications name slightly different references. The general name, Citizen 8110, covers the model family. The 8110A label, used by Watch ID, adds the vintage gold variant. If you are looking for the screen-style watch, search for both names, because listings often use one or the other.
Why the watch is out of period
The film’s setting is Los Angeles in 1969, as Sony Pictures describes it. Kenyon reports that the Citizen 8110 was not released until 1972, so the watch post-dates the story by about three years. He wrote:

#1 Best Overall
“As it turns out, the watch was a Citizen 8110 chronograph, an interesting choice for a watch, not only because of how specific the piece was, but also because it was period incorrect.” (Nick Kenyon, Time and Tide Watches)
This is a specialist publication’s assessment. Neither the film’s costume department nor Citizen has been cited as confirming the exact reference worn on set, so treat the identification as the best available reading of the screen watch rather than a production credit.

- The 9th film from Quentin Tarantino features a large ensemble cast and multiple storylines in a tribute to the final moments of Hollywood?s golden age.
The cuff is a separate accessory
The leather strap is a different matter from the watch itself. The leather cuff maker Red Monkey markets a Cliff Booth-themed cuff and describes it as worn by Pitt in the film, in a blog post on the character’s watch. It also has a Cliff Booth Legend collection page. Those are the maker’s own marketing claims, not independent confirmation. A cuff styled after the film is a related accessory, not the Citizen watch.

- The 9th film from Quentin Tarantino features a large ensemble cast and multiple storylines in a tribute to the final moments of Hollywood?s golden age.
- The reference: whether the listing says 8110, 8110A, or a different Citizen model.
- Finish: whether the case is gold-tone and how much the plating has worn.
- Movement and service history, including whether the chronograph functions were tested.
- Seller documentation and return terms, since authenticity cannot be confirmed from photos alone.
- Whether a strap is included, or whether it is a separate cuff purchase.
Current availability and prices change, so confirm them on the listing itself.
In short, Cliff Booth’s watch is a Citizen 8110 bullhead chronograph, most specifically identified as a gold 8110A, and the film’s 1969 setting makes it a known period inaccuracy.
