Alicia Silverstone will reprise Cher Horowitz in a Paramount+ sequel event series, which Paramount+ greenlit on July 30, 2026. Production is slated to begin in Los Angeles in 2027, and no premiere date has been announced. The announcement does not confirm the return of any other original cast member, so the rest of the ensemble should not be assumed to be part of the project.
Is there a Clueless sequel?
Yes. Paramount+ announced on July 30, 2026, that it had greenlit a Clueless sequel event series starring Silverstone, who will also executive produce. The official announcement is in Paramount Press Express.

The story picks up 30 years after the 1995 film. According to the announcement, Cher has become successful in business and has mastered motherhood, until her daughter reaches high school. The series will premiere globally and exclusively on Paramount+.
Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage, and Jordan Weiss are attached as writers and executive producers. Amy Heckerling, who wrote and directed the original film, and original producer Robert Lawrence are also listed as executive producers. Jane Wiseman, Head of Originals for Paramount+, said: “Clueless is coming home.” That line is promotional language rather than a plot detail.

The 1995 film in brief
Clueless was written and directed by Amy Heckerling. It updates Jane Austen’s 1815 novel Emma to 1990s Beverly Hills. Alicia Silverstone
The sequel is the most current verified item in her career. A 2023 Us Weekly retrospective, “‘Clueless’ Cast: Where Are They Now?”, summarizes her earlier screen roles. Those are past credits, not current projects.
Stacey Dash
Dash’s role as Dionne is confirmed in the film guide. The 2023 retrospective also reports her reprise of the character in the television adaptation and summarizes some later credits. Those later credits are historical; they do not establish a current 2026 project.

Murphy played Tai Frasier and died in December 2009. Her death is the only fact about her career that is relevant to this update, and it is noted here as a matter of record.
Other principal cast members
- Paul Rudd (Josh Lucas): The 2023 retrospective describes his extensive film career. The 2026 sequel announcement does not list him as returning, and the story’s focus on Cher should not be read as a sign of his involvement.
- Donald Faison (Murray Duvall): The 2023 retrospective treats his television work in the franchise as historical context. No 2026 status is confirmed.
