How the midseason finale ends
The “midseason finale” is Season 3, Episode 9, titled “Good Trouble.” It aired Sunday, December 14, 2025. CBS’s synopsis says Colter Shaw’s old friend John Keaton, played by Brent Saxton, asks Colter to find Keaton’s former partner. The search turns up a trail of bodies and a larger conspiracy.

CinemaBlend’s December 16, 2025 report describes the final sequence. The official synopsis does not show it, so treat the following as reported:
- Keaton is shot during a shootout.
- Colter drives him toward help and tries to keep pressure on the wound.
- Colter is shot as well.
- The car crashes and flips.
The episode ends on a cliffhanger. Neither character’s fate is resolved at the break, and the reporting does not confirm that either one dies. Showrunner Elwood Reid, as quoted in the same report, said Colter is the only one who gets out of the wreck, and that he then faces bigger problems. Reid’s comments put Colter in a worse position than before: he becomes a wanted man because he was present at the crime scenes.

What the March episode sets up
CBS’s synopsis for “The Fallout” says Colter is injured and framed for murders. He is cut off from Reenie and Randy and has to work with Billie against an assassin. That setup follows directly from the December ending: Colter is hurt, the police consider him a suspect, and he is on his own.
