What is Uglies about?
The science-fiction film adapts Scott Westerfeld’s 2005 novel Uglies. Netflix’s synopsis describes a futuristic dystopia where teenagers undergo mandatory cosmetic surgery. Tally sets out to find a missing friend, placing the story’s personal search against that society’s rules. Netflix announced McG as director and Krista Vernoff as screenwriter in 2020; that announcement described the project team at the time. (About Netflix; Netflix)
