The plot, as Karkare recounted it, lasted two episodes. He used it as a comic entry point to a broader set of fictional stories about humans and animals—a selection, not a comprehensive history.
What happens in the Thapki Pyar Ki gorilla storyline?
Karkare’s June 28, 2016 account says that after “350+ episodes” focused on Thapki’s love life, an unnamed gorilla escaped from a local zoo and entered the romantic rivalry. Thapki, played by Jigyasa Singh, was caught between her husband Bihaan (Manish Goplani), colleague Dhruv (Ankit Bathla), and the gorilla. The arc lasted two episodes; Karkare says zoo authorities took the animal away after it became violent.

Why does the article connect the plot to other romances?
The gorilla storyline is the comic hook for Karkare’s survey of selected examples from film and television, including King Kong, Misfits, Friends, Johnny Bravo, Pokémon, Family Guy, BoJack Horseman, Ted, and Zoo. These examples do not all depict the same kind of relationship. Some involve an animal’s attachment to a human; others imagine romance with a human-like or fantastical being, or use supernatural interspecies relationships as a story premise.

That variety matters: a comic crush on an animal, a romance involving a human-animal hybrid, and a horror story about an interspecies relationship are not interchangeable. Karkare’s headline makes a broad historical claim, but the article’s examples are an essayist’s selection rather than a systematic catalogue or a documented history.
What kind of documentary is Zoo in this discussion?
Karkare also refers to Zoo as a documentary in his discussion of human-animal relationships. The article mentions a real incident, but its account alone does not establish the incident’s details or legal aftermath.
