Spoiler-light: Squid Game Season 3 is the South Korean series’ third and final season. It premiered June 27, 2025, and all six episodes are streaming on Netflix, though availability can vary by region. The story follows Gi-hun and the surviving players after a failed uprising, as the organizers force them into another round of deadly games.
What is Squid Game Season 3 about?
Season 3 begins in the aftermath of Gi-hun’s failed rebellion against the game’s organizers. He is grieving the death of his friend Jung-bae and reeling from the Front Man’s betrayal. The surviving players are pushed into increasingly dangerous games, while In-ho resumes his role as the Front Man. Jun-ho continues searching for the island, unaware that a traitor is close to him.
The season’s central conflict is what Gi-hun can do after his efforts have failed and he has lost people who joined him. Creator and director Hwang Dong-hyuk described that as the main storyline to Netflix Tudum. Lee Byung-hun, who plays the Front Man, described his character as believing Gi-hun will eventually change and think as he does. Those opposing views frame the season’s struggle over whether people can resist the system—or are eventually shaped by it.
When did Squid Game Season 3 premiere, and where can you watch it?
Netflix announced on January 30, 2025, that the third and final season would premiere June 27, 2025. Netflix Tudum’s season guide says all six episodes are now streaming on Netflix. Catalog access can vary by location, so check the local Netflix listing for current availability.

What does the final scene mean? Major spoilers
Spoilers for the Season 3 finale: The final game, Sky Squid Game, takes place across three towers shaped like a square, triangle, and circle. The rules require a participant to be pushed from each structure, and the start button matters for a death to count. Jun-hee’s baby, Player 222, wins. Gi-hun protects the child through the final round and gives his life so the baby can live.
After a six-month time jump, the Front Man saves the baby and leaves her with Jun-ho, along with the 4.56 billion won prize. In Netflix Tudum’s November 26, 2025 finale explainer, Hwang said, “Ultimately, the baby represents the future generation.” The child’s survival gives the finale a note of possibility amid its devastating outcome.

The Los Angeles encounter
In the closing scene, the Front Man drives through downtown Los Angeles and hears the sound of ddakji tiles. A well-dressed, mysterious woman is playing with a distressed man; the Front Man and the woman notice each other. The encounter suggests the game exists beyond the story’s central setting, but it does not confirm another season. Lee Byung-hun told Tudum, “I thought it was an incredible ending that no one could predict,” and said the scene suggests that, “Despite all the noble efforts of so many people, the world still continues as it was before.”
Is Squid Game coming back for Season 4?
No Season 4 is planned. Netflix Tudum reported that Hwang confirmed Episode 6 was intended as the definitive series finale. The final encounter widens the story’s implications, but Netflix has not announced a continuation.

What did creator Hwang Dong-hyuk say the ending means?
In a June 28, 2025 Netflix Tudum interview, Hwang said the series’ message was that “if we solely pursue our immediate self-interest, and refuse to self-restrain, sacrifice, or bear any costs, and if we don’t put our heads together, we have no future.” The finale’s contrast between Gi-hun’s sacrifice and the persistence of the game’s machinery gives that statement its weight: individual choices matter, but they do not automatically undo a system built to exploit people.
How many people watched Season 3?
Netflix reported that Season 3 received 60.1 million views in its first three days of viewing. The company also said the season ranked No. 1 in all 93 countries where Netflix had Top 10 lists during its debut week. These are Netflix-reported figures, not independent audience measurements. In the same July 1, 2025 report, Netflix said the first two seasons had accumulated nearly 600 million views ahead of Season 3’s launch; that figure is also company-reported.
