The newest development is not a release or casting announcement. In a September 2026 interview, Lilly Wachowski said Goddard may not want to move forward without the Wachowskis’ blessing, and she described that situation as unresolved. Goddard’s latest writing update
GamesRadar reported on March 1, 2026 that Goddard, promoting Project Hail Mary, had given a Screen Rant interview about the film. He said: “I’m in my writing cave writing.” He added: “I don’t know how long I’ll be in that writing cave, but whenever I come out, I’ll have news to share.” (GamesRadar+, March 1, 2026)
