Bad Bunny hosted the Saturday Night Live Season 51 premiere on October 4, 2025, with Doja Cat as musical guest. The episode featured surprise appearances by Jon Hamm in an El Chavo del Ocho sketch and the singers behind Huntr/x in a KPop Demon Hunters brunch sketch.
What happened in the Season 51 premiere?
The October 4 episode was Bad Bunny’s second time hosting SNL. Doja Cat made her debut as a musical guest, performing “AAAHH MEN!” and “Gorgeous,” featuring RaiNao, according to Peacock’s recap.
The show opened with a Pete Hegseth cold open before Bad Bunny’s monologue. Other sketches included “Jeopardy,” “ChatGPTío,” “The Donor,” “Inventing Spanish,” “Parent Teacher Conference,” and “El Chavo Del Ocho (English Version),” alongside Weekend Update. Peacock’s Season 51 episode listing identifies the premiere as Episode 1 and gives it a 68-minute runtime.
Which cameos stood out?
Jon Hamm in “El Chavo Del Ocho”
In the English-version sketch, Bad Bunny guides cast members through an English adaptation of his favorite show. Jon Hamm makes a surprise appearance. NBCUniversal later reported that “El Chavo Del Ocho” was the most-viewed sketch of Season 51 across social platforms; that is the company’s season-wide ranking, not an independent measure of audience opinion.

What did Bad Bunny say in his monologue?
Bad Bunny spoke in Spanish before delivering a line about the time remaining until his forthcoming Super Bowl role. The Associated Press reports his English-rendered punchline as: “If you didn’t understand what I just said, you have four months to learn!” This is AP’s translation, not a Spanish transcript.
How did critics assess the episode?
Critical emphasis differed. The Los Angeles Times review judged the episode weak overall, saying it found firmer footing around Weekend Update and calling the KPop Demon Hunters cameo a bright spot. That is one critic’s assessment, not a consensus.
