Creator Charlie Covell said in September 2024 that more was possible and that they had once imagined a three-season story. Netflix later cancelled the series after its first season, and Covell said they were “gutted” not to make more. The earlier comments were a statement of creative ambition, not a renewal.
What did the creator say about Season 2?
In September 2024, Covell said “I think anything is possible,” adding that they had ideas and a strong sense of what they wanted to do with the series. What was KAOS about?
KAOS is an eight-episode contemporary retelling of Greek and Roman mythology, created and written by Covell. Jeff Goldblum plays Zeus, and Stephen Dillane plays Prometheus. In the story, Prometheus recruits three humans—Riddy, also known as Eurydice; Ariadne; and Caeneus—to challenge Zeus’s rule. Janet McTeer and David Thewlis are also among the cast. The Guardian describes the series and its format in its cancellation report.

TIME’s review characterized the show as a mix of comedy and political thriller, with the Olympians resembling a divine crime family. That is the critic’s description of its tone, rather than a formal genre label from Covell: TIME’s review.
