No release date for either sequel has been announced. Infinity Castle is planned as a three-film theatrical trilogy, and in May 2026 Crunchyroll’s president said the second film was in production with no date yet. The first film’s September 12, 2025 date was for its North American opening and says nothing about the sequels. Box office success, including the film’s large opening weekend, does not by itself set a release window.
What the trilogy plan actually is
The franchise’s official site announced on July 1, 2024 that Infinity Castle would be released exclusively in theaters as a trilogy. The announcement named Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment as distributors for worldwide territories, with an important exception: some Asian regions, including Japan, were not covered by that arrangement. Readers outside those exceptions should read “worldwide” as the distribution scope of that announcement, not as a guarantee of simultaneous release everywhere.
The story adapted is the manga’s final arc, so the three films together are the adaptation of that ending rather than a single standalone movie.
The September 12, 2025 date belongs to the first film
The official notice for the first installment, published July 26, 2025, gave September 12, 2025 as the North American release date. That notice also listed IMAX and premium large-format screenings in the United States and Canada. It was a date for the opening film only. Readers searching for a “Infinity Castle 2” or “part two” date will not find it there.

Where the sequels stand
The most recent production update available is from May 2026. In an interview report published by GamesRadar+, Crunchyroll president and CEO Rahul Purini described the trilogy as the final arc, with two films still to come after the first. He said:
“We can tell you that it is actively in production. The studio wants to bring it to fans as quickly as possible. We just don’t have a date yet.”

That answers the production question for May 2026: the second film was in active production. It does not give a year, a season, or a month. Any date announced after May 2026 would have to come from the official channels, and this article does not reflect any update made after that report.
Why a hit does not fix a date
A film’s commercial performance affects how studios talk about the franchise, but it does not by itself reveal production schedules, theater bookings, or regional release plans. TOHO’s May 2026 president’s message described Infinity Castle as a “mega-hit” and noted that KOKUHO set a new box-office record among Japanese live-action films. That message did not give a sequel schedule. Comscore senior media analyst Paul Dergarabedian, speaking to The Associated Press, put the opening in a broader context: “This performance by this particular film shows the unpredictability of the box office.”

What the box office figures measure
The headline numbers circulating about the film are opening-weekend estimates, not final totals. They are summarized below.
| Figure | Amount | Measure and scope | Source and date |
|---|---|---|---|
| North American opening | About $70 million | Opening-weekend estimate for the United States and Canada | Comscore, as reported by The Associated Press, September 14, 2025 |
| Global opening weekend | $177.8 million | Opening-weekend estimate across reported markets | Comscore, as reported by The Associated Press, September 14, 2025 |
| Final worldwide gross | Not stated | No verified total in the reports available for this article | Not stated in AP or TOHO reporting |
Because the final gross is not established, “massive box office domination” is best read as a description of a strong opening and a corporate characterization of hit status, not as a confirmed lifetime total.

How to tell a confirmed date from a target
Readers will see release dates in many forms, and they do not carry equal weight. Use this checklist before treating a date as settled:
- Official announcement: A date published on the franchise’s official site or by the distributor carries more weight than a secondhand report.
- Region named: Check whether the date covers Japan, North America, or other markets. Japan was excluded from the 2024 worldwide distribution announcement, so a non-Japanese date does not automatically apply there.
- Format named: A premium-format date, such as the IMAX listing used for the first film, may differ from the general release date.
- Confirmed versus targeted: Statements such as “in production” or “we don’t have a date yet” describe status, not a window.
- Home release: No streaming or home-video date for the sequels appears in the reports available. Theatrical timing has not been tied to any later window.
Where to check for an update
Official confirmation will most likely come through the franchise’s official site, Crunchyroll, or Sony Pictures Entertainment’s announcements, and for Japan through TOHO and the domestic distributor. Those channels are the places to watch, since secondhand interview coverage can lag behind or describe production status without a date.
