Lynda Carter said in an April 2, 2024 interview that she doesn’t think Warner Bros. will make Wonder Woman 3 unless fans push for it. That is her opinion, not a studio announcement. As of October 2026, official DC material does not establish that a third Wonder Woman film is in production, and it does not announce that the project has been canceled. Fan pressure may be a factor in her view, but nothing published by the studio confirms a green light.
What Lynda Carter actually said
The comment was reported by PTI on April 2, 2024, drawn from an interview with Yahoo! Entertainment. Carter, who played the warrior Asteria in Wonder Woman 1984, said:
“I don’t think they want to do it unless there’s enough pressure from fans. I just don’t think they have the mind to do it. I don’t understand that, because it seems to me that Wonder Woman is different from other characters. She’s not just a superhero. Her whole thing is about peaceful solutions. She’s not aggressive to be aggressive. It’s a different story. It’s about inner strength, outer strength. I don’t know why they tabled it, because it’s a great franchise.”
Two things matter in that statement. First, the phrase “tabled it” is Carter’s own description of a decision she says she does not understand; the report does not include a studio explanation for it. Second, her remarks about the character, including peaceful solutions and inner and outer strength, are a view about what makes Wonder Woman distinct. They are not a claim about the production status of a sequel.

What the studio has and has not announced
DC Studios published its initial slate on January 31, 2023. That slate announced Paradise Lost, a series set on Themyscira and focused on the Amazons. It did not include a third Wonder Woman film.
A slate omission is not the same as a cancellation. A studio can leave a project off an initial announcement and still develop it later, or it can drop it quietly. DC’s August 2025 overview of its projects does not settle the question either. It does not say a third film is in production, and it does not say the film has been definitively canceled.

Why the comics news does not change the film picture
DC is actively publishing Wonder Woman comics. Tom King and Daniel Sampere’s run began in September 2023. DC’s September 18, 2026 announcement says the run concludes with issue #40, scheduled for December 16, 2026, and that it will be collected in six editions. That is comic-book publishing, and it says nothing about whether a third film is being developed. Readers sometimes treat ongoing comics as a signal for a movie, but the two are handled separately.
How to judge whether a sequel is really moving
Fan campaigns and interviews can raise a project’s profile, but they are weak evidence on their own. Before treating a sequel as real, look for these signals in official channels:

- A DC Studios or Warner Bros. announcement that names the project, not just a slate or a general franchise statement.
- A named director, writer, or returning cast member confirmed by the studio.
- A release date or release window attached to the project.
- A filming or production start announced by the studio or its official accounts.
- For a cancellation, a studio statement or a clear change to its published slate. Silence alone does not establish either outcome.
Carter’s remarks, dated April 2, 2024, meet none of these tests. They are a useful indication of how an actor who played the character views the franchise, and they are a reasonable reason to watch for official news. They are not evidence that a third film has been approved.

The next reliable update would come from DC Studios or Warner Bros. through its official announcements, a slate update, or a formal statement about the film. Until one of those appears, the accurate position is that Wonder Woman 3 has no confirmed production status. Carter’s comment reflects her view of the studio’s decision, and the studio has not publicly matched it.
