Zooey Deschanel and Jonathan Scott are engaged, but the most recent comments from either of them that we could find, from December 2025, describe planning as still exploratory. No wedding date or venue has been announced in the coverage reviewed, and Scott has said the ceremony will not be televised.
Where the wedding planning stands
The couple got engaged in August 2023 during a trip to Scotland, according to entertainment coverage of the proposal. Since then, neither has described a booked plan. Their own words point to a wedding that is still undecided in its basics: where it will be, when it will happen, and what it will look like.

The latest reported update is from December 2025, so this article reflects that period. Reports from later than that were not part of the coverage reviewed here, and this piece does not confirm any development after December 2025.

In a December 2025 interview with People, reported by TV Insider and Swooon, Deschanel described planning as “more exploratory.” She tied the slow pace to the length of their relationship:

A party has to clear a high bar
At the December 4, 2025 premiere of Merv, Deschanel gave a shorter explanation for the delay: “The bar is high for throwing a party. So it has to be really good.”

What Jonathan Scott has said
Earlier, no firm plans
In comments reported by People in August 2025, Scott said the couple had been enjoying trips with the children and work on filming, and had not made firm plans. An earlier Entertainment Tonight report from August 9, 2024 has him saying they had no update and expected to work it out. That is older context; his later comments describe the same unsettled picture.
A warm, intimate celebration
In an October 2025 interview with Us Weekly, Scott said there were no updates and called the couple poor wedding planners. He said they had not figured out a location and wanted a warm wedding. He also described the goal this way:

These are stated preferences. They are not a guest list, a budget, a style, or a schedule.

Will the wedding be televised?
No, according to Scott. Asked in a July 28, 2025 interview with TV Insider/Swooon whether they would follow the example of his brother Drew Scott, who staged a televised wedding, he answered: “Not a chance!” That is the most direct statement on the question in the coverage reviewed, and it has not been revised in the reports found.

- Date: No wedding date has been reported.
- Venue or location: Scott said in 2025 that they had not settled on a location. No venue has been named.
- Guest list, budget and style: Only the general aims of a warm, meaningful and intimate event have been described.
- Marriage: The reports reviewed do not say the couple have married.
Deschanel’s “not in a rush” comment and Scott’s “very, very intimate” comment describe what the couple want. They do not mean a date has been set or that anything is delayed.

The coverage also contains no reason to read the length of the engagement as a sign of trouble. Both partners have described the pace as a choice about finding the right setting, and they have said they are enjoying their time together.
