The series, made for the FA and M&S Food’s Greater Game healthy-eating campaign, was intended to feature England players Bukayo Saka, Ezri Konsa and Jarrod Bowen. The legal case has since gone to trial: a jury convicted Yung Filly on two assault counts, acquitted him on three rape counts and other charges, and could not reach verdicts on three further rape counts. Prosecutors said in August 2026 that they would retry those unresolved counts.
What was the FA cooking campaign?
Freestyle Cooking was a planned online cookery series within the Greater Game, a Football Association campaign with M&S Food. The campaign aimed to promote healthy eating and positively influence children aged 12 to 16. Its announced line-up included YouTube star Yung Filly and England players Bukayo Saka, Ezri Konsa and Jarrod Bowen. Sky News reported the campaign details and the FA’s explanation.
The FA said Yung Filly’s involvement was intended to “encourage young people up and down the country to experiment with cooking healthy alternatives,” as reported by Sky News. Sky also reported at the time that M&S had no direct endorsement deal with him; that was a contemporaneous report, not a statement about any later commercial relationship.
Why did the FA remove the videos?
In October 2024, Yung Filly was charged in Western Australia. After the charges became public, the FA removed the planned videos; contemporaneous reporting said related promotional material was also pulled. PerthNow’s report of the charges cautioned that being charged did not mean he was guilty. The cancellation was a response to the charges at that time, not a court finding.

What happened in the court case?
The jury’s July 2026 outcomes were mixed. It is important to distinguish the counts on which Yung Filly was acquitted from those that remain unresolved.
- Acquitted: three rape counts and two further charges.
- Convicted: two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm.
- No verdict: the jury could not reach verdicts on three additional rape counts.
ABC News reported the July verdicts and said prosecutors would decide whether to retry the unresolved charges. The acquittals apply to the specific counts decided by the jury; they do not settle the three counts on which it could not reach verdicts.
What is the latest status of the unresolved charges?
On 21 August 2026, ABC and the Associated Press reported that prosecutors would proceed with a retrial on the three rape counts for which the jury had not reached verdicts. ABC reported that sentencing on the assault convictions would take place after the retrial. The AP reported that no retrial date had been set at that point. ABC News’s August report and the AP report describe that decision. This is the latest status established here; later scheduling or outcomes are not confirmed.
