It is the latest completed ending of the series.
The finale answers two long-running questions and closes on a cliffhanger. In the wilderness, Mari is the girl who falls into the spiked pit that opens the series. In the present day, Callie admits she pushed Lottie down the stairs and calls it an accident. Natalie makes radio contact with the outside world, but the episode does not show anyone coming to get the survivors.
The wilderness: Pit Girl and the Antler Queen
Pit Girl is Mari
The finale returns to the hunt that the pilot opens with. Shauna has consolidated power, and Lottie pushes for another sacrifice. Tai and Van try to rig the card draw to protect their allies, but Shauna disrupts the arrangement. Mari draws the Queen card and the hunt begins. She runs through the woods and falls into the pit that Coach Scott built and Travis fitted with spikes. The group later feasts on her.
Co-creator Ashley Lyle told the Los Angeles Times on April 11, 2025 that the show has “definitively answered who Pit Girl is.” The reveal closes a question the series has carried since its first episode.

Shauna and the Antler Queen regalia
In the scene that links the Season 3 ending back to the pilot, Shauna wears the Antler Queen regalia and holds the top position in the group’s hierarchy. Read the title as the ceremonial role in this hunt. The finale does not make “Antler Queen” a fixed identity that explains every symbolic use of the antler imagery, and the creators’ remarks leave room for a broader reading.
Natalie’s call
Natalie, Misty, and Hanna use the hunt as cover for their plan. The researchers’ satellite phone had been broken, and they repaired it with a cord from the transponder Misty destroyed after the crash. Natalie carries the phone to higher ground and gets a signal. The reply she hears is “I can hear you.”

The episode confirms contact but stops short of rescue. What the contact means for the survivors’ return is covered in the open-questions section below.
The present day: who killed Lottie
Misty works out that the DNA connected to the case belongs to Callie, and she confronts her. Callie explains that she went to Lottie to retrieve the tape. During the confrontation, Callie pushes Lottie down the stairs. Later she tells Misty she was scared and that it was an accident. Jeff comforts Callie and leaves with her.

The finale presents this as the show’s answer to who killed Lottie. It is a plot revelation within the drama, not a legal finding, and it opens a family fallout involving Shauna, Jeff, and Callie.
What the finale leaves open
Does the contact lead to rescue?
Lyle describes the contact as official and purposeful, and says Natalie was meant to spearhead the group’s return. Bart Nickerson, the other co-creator and showrunner, says the route from Natalie’s contact to an actual rescue is a question Season 4 will answer, and that it is not a straight line the audience should assume. Treat the rescue as unresolved.

What readjustment looks like
Lyle says the writers have long wanted to explore life after rescue rather than skip past it. She describes ordinary society as potentially feeling foreign to the changed survivors. That theme depends on the rescue question above, so it is a direction for the story rather than something the finale shows.
Is the Wilderness supernatural?
The finale interviews keep several readings in play: the Wilderness as supernatural, as a psychological effect, or as an interpretation shaped by trauma, mental health, belief, and coincidence. None is presented as official canon. Courtney Eaton, who plays Lottie, says she does not want to lean too far either way when discussing Lottie’s relationship to the Wilderness.

How far the family rupture goes
The showrunners describe a substantial amount of story in both the post-wilderness adjustment and the adults’ deteriorating trust, with Shauna’s power at the center of it. The finale sets up these conflicts without resolving them.

- On the show’s central question. Lyle told the Los Angeles Times (April 11, 2025): “The question that we pose in the pilot is: Can they put the past behind them?”
- On the characters. Lyle told TheWrap (April 11, 2025): “We did not go into this show trying to make these women likable. We tried to make them complex and difficult and f–ked up and weird, and we’re doing that.”
Season 4 is the last season
Paramount’s official Yellowjackets series page lists Season 4 as the final season, with a return on November 20, 2026, as of October 8, 2026. Schedules can move, so check the official page before planning viewing. Lyle has said she hoped for five seasons if the storytelling allowed, but she has also stressed that a satisfying conclusion matters more than the number of seasons.
How big the finale was
Paramount publishes audience figures for the finale through its press-release index. They are company-reported and not independently audited, and the comparisons use different baselines.
| Figure (Paramount-reported) | Comparison baseline | What it measures |
|---|---|---|
| 3 million global cross-platform viewers over seven days | Not applicable (absolute figure) | Season 3 finale, release dated April 24, 2025 |
| +19% | Previous season finale | Season-finale comparison, as reported in the same release listing |
| +54% | Season 2 finale | Streaming alone, not all platforms |
| +186% social engagement | Season 2 | Measurement window not stated in the release index available |
Because the 19% figure compares finales and the 54% figure covers streaming only, the two numbers should not be read as measured the same way.
