Posey said he had written a second-film script, described it as ready to go but likely to need rewrites, and indicated that people were on board. The report did not identify those people or say that a studio commissioned the project. A separate September 2025 report also attributed to Posey his determination to keep the story alive; that is evidence of his intent, not a studio order. Why a script does not mean the movie is greenlit
A writer or actor can develop a script and seek support without a studio approving production. Posey’s comments support the existence of a proposed story and interest from unspecified people. They do not confirm that Paramount+ has ordered the film, that cast contracts are in place, or that filming or a release has been scheduled.

How the 2023 movie fits in
Teen Wolf: The Movie was the Paramount+ continuation of MTV’s series. Paramount’s official title listing identifies the film as a 120-minute horror movie and gives its premiere date as January 26, 2023. Paramount’s October 2022 release announcement specified January 26, 2023, for the United States and Canada, and January 27 for the United Kingdom, Latin America, and Australia. Those are historical premiere details, not confirmation of current streaming availability in those regions.

The clearest sign of a sequel moving forward would be an announcement from Paramount+ or the relevant rights holder confirming that the project is commissioned or in production. A release date, production schedule, or confirmed cast would provide further evidence that the proposal has advanced. Until an official announcement establishes that step, Posey’s script should be treated as a possibility rather than a scheduled sequel.
