What happened to Woody at the end of Toy Story 4?
At the end of Toy Story 4, Woody chose to leave Bonnie’s room and stay with Bo Peep, helping lost toys find children who would love them. That decision gave him a different purpose from the one he had as Bonnie’s toy.
Why does Woody come back in Toy Story 5?
Pixar’s character description says Woody is away with Bo Peep’s toy-rescue squad when a surprise call brings him back to Bonnie’s room. The studio’s trailer announcement frames the story as a reunion between Woody and Buzz after Woody left the gang to help lost toys.
The call brings Woody back for this adventure; the official description does not say he has permanently rejoined Bonnie’s toys. His earlier choice and his new return can both stand: he has continued helping lost toys, and now he is responding to a new situation involving his old friends.

What are Woody and Buzz up against?
Disney describes the conflict as “Toy meets Tech.” Bonnie’s new favorite is Lilypad, a frog-shaped smart tablet that challenges the traditional toys’ place in playtime. The official film synopsis says Woody and Buzz face the threat and look for Jessie and Bullseye. So Woody’s return is tied to a fresh problem and missing friends, not simply a reset of the previous film’s ending.
Where can you watch Toy Story 5?
As of October 8, 2026, Disney+ says Toy Story 5 has been streaming since September 23, 2026; availability can vary by location. Disney Japan also lists a Blu-ray + DVD set, which is a regional physical-media listing rather than confirmation of availability elsewhere.
