Whoopi Goldberg was briefly bleeped during the October 30, 2025, episode of The View, while discussing the U.S. government shutdown. After a commercial break, she denied saying the “bad word” that prompted a call to the show, but reports do not establish what was under the bleep or why it was applied.
What happened on The View?
The incident occurred during a discussion of the shutdown’s impact on Americans. Goldberg said it “should not be affecting the American people.” The Daily Beast reported that the audio was bleeped after she began, “These are decisions that you don’t have the right to…” The Daily Beast describes that portion of the exchange, while ComingSoon reports what Goldberg said after the break.

What did Whoopi Goldberg say after the bleep?
After a commercial break, Goldberg described a call to the show: “Just so we’re all clear, our people just got a call, saying, ‘Whoopi just said a bad word. Do you have a comment?’” She then denied saying it: “I didn’t say the bad word. I did not say it.” She also told viewers to watch the show and “do play it back the 50 times that you’re going to do.” These remarks are reported by ComingSoon.
Did Goldberg swear, and why was she censored?
The available reporting does not establish the precise word or phrase beneath the bleep. Goldberg denied saying the “bad word,” and the reviewed reports do not provide a primary episode transcript or recording that settles what viewers heard. They also do not establish why the production applied the censor. It would be inaccurate to state as fact that she used a particular profanity or that ABC ordered the bleep.
