Penta is a Mexican luchador who wrestles for WWE under the single ring name Penta. He is not a newcomer to professional wrestling. He made his WWE debut on Monday Night Raw on January 13, 2025, and by then he had already built a career and a following in Mexico and the United States. The phrase “new superstar” fits his arrival in 2025, but as of October 2026 it describes a debut that is more than a year and a half old. This article covers who he is, the names he wrestled under before WWE, how his career reached U.S. audiences, and what WWE and recent reporting say about him now.
Who Penta is in WWE
WWE bills him simply as Penta, and his WWE profile describes him as Mexican-born. The company frames his persona around the phrase “cero miedo,” Spanish for “zero fear.” His WWE profile lists him at 5 feet 11 inches and 207 pounds. Those figures are the company’s own listed stats, not measurements taken by an outside party, and they may change over time.
The names he used before WWE
Penta’s career carried several ring identities before WWE signed him. Reporting from EL PAÍS, a Spanish-language Mexican newspaper, is the most detailed independent account of those names, and it does not date every change precisely.
| Ring name | Where it appears in the record | Context |
|---|---|---|
| Zaius | Early Mexican wrestling work, per EL PAÍS | Dates not stated |
| Dark Dragon | Early Mexican wrestling work, per EL PAÍS | Dates not stated |
| Pentagón Jr. | AAA, per EL PAÍS | The name most closely tied to his Lucha Underground exposure in the United States |
| Penta Zero Miedo | Adopted after he left AAA, per EL PAÍS | The “cero miedo” identity that carried into his later independent work and then WWE |
| Penta | WWE, per WWE’s profile | The single name WWE uses today |
If you search older match results, the names Pentagón Jr. and Penta Zero Miedo are the two most useful to know. Zaius and Dark Dragon matter mainly as background.

His career before WWE
Early life and early work
EL PAÍS reports that Penta grew up in Ecatepec, on the outskirts of Mexico City, and worked in a wholesale market and as a public-transport driver before wrestling became his career. Those are personal-history details reported by that newspaper. They describe his path to the ring, but they do not explain his athletic success, and the source does not present them as a cause of it.
AAA and Lucha Underground
Penta worked in Mexican promotions, most prominently AAA, where he wrestled as Pentagón Jr. After leaving AAA he developed the Penta Zero Miedo identity. U.S. audiences first encountered much of his work through the American series Lucha Underground, and EL PAÍS describes subsequent independent appearances that kept his profile growing.

His WWE debut and early run
WWE’s profile says Penta’s first WWE match was on Raw on January 13, 2025, against Chad Gable, and that he won. EL PAÍS’s coverage of that debut reproduces a message Penta gave after the match, thanking fans in Mexico and Latin America. In the newspaper’s Spanish transcription he says:
“Para toda mi gente de México y toda Latinoamérica les quiero decir gracias por ser parte del proceso, gracias por acompañarme a mi camino para poder llegar aquí. Para los que saben y los que no: esto es el resultado de un mexicano cuando quiere salir adelante, señores.”

In English, roughly: “To all my people in Mexico and all of Latin America, I want to say thank you for being part of the process, thank you for walking my path with me to get here. For those who know and those who don’t: this is the result of a Mexican when he wants to get ahead, gentlemen.” This translation is ours and is offered for readability; the Spanish is the original wording.
Championship status
WWE’s Penta biography credits him with defeating Dominik Mysterio for the Intercontinental Championship and retaining it in a ladder match at WrestleMania 42. The same WWE profile page also has a current champion panel that names Chad Gable as Intercontinental Champion. Those two entries conflict, so the title should be treated as a career highlight rather than a statement of who holds it today. Presentation and signature moves
Penta’s act is built on a masked look, the “cero miedo” identity, and an athletic style. WWE’s profile lists two signature moves and describes his work around aerial offense and striking:
- The Sacrifice, listed by WWE as a signature move.
- Penta Driver, also listed by WWE as a signature move.
- Aerial offense and striking, the style WWE uses to describe his work. This is WWE’s characterization, not an independent evaluation.
Recent reception in Mexico City
EL PAÍS’s September 15, 2026 report covered WWE’s event at Arena Ciudad de México and said the event drew more than 22,000 attendees. The paper described Penta as a major current attraction at the show and reported that the crowd’s response to him remained strong. Both the attendance figure and that characterization come from EL PAÍS’s reporting on that event, not from an independent count.
