Tarek and Heather El Moussa won Season 1 of HGTV’s The Flip Off. The finale crowned them on reported return on investment (ROI): 38.51% for the El Moussas against 23.89% for Christina Haack, according to TV Insider’s March 5, 2025 finale recap.
Who was crowned the Season 1 winner
The winning team was Tarek and Heather El Moussa. The series ended with Season 1, Episode 6, titled “The Final Flip Off,” which HGTV lists as the point where the final tally is made and one team is named the winner. Jeff Lewis announced the result on the finale, as the recap reports.
Why ROI decided it
The competition was not settled by a single room challenge or a single sale. The winner was the team with the higher ROI on its flip. Disney+’s series listing describes the finale the same way, as crowning the team with the highest return. That is the measure to keep in mind when reading any of the individual numbers below.

Checking the ROI arithmetic
The reported percentages match a simple formula: net profit divided by the combined purchase price and renovation spend. Applied to the recap’s numbers, that gives about 23.9% for Haack ($217,000 ÷ $908,000) and about 38.5% for the El Moussas ($431,000 ÷ $1,119,000). Both results sit within rounding distance of the published percentages, so the recap’s figures are internally consistent. The formula is an inference from the published numbers, not a method stated by the show.

The result is a head-to-head ROI comparison on the show’s terms. It does not establish that the El Moussas were the better house flippers in any broader sense, and it does not reflect the figures on any other project. Readers comparing the two teams should use the same measures for both: purchase price, renovation spend, final sale amount, net profit, and ROI.
