The question is confusing because the story’s past arc appears to point toward Yukiji, but the present-day resolution in the series’ later volumes goes the other way.
Which Tomoe the question refers to
The Tomoe in this article is the character from Kamisama Kiss, a manga by Julietta Suzuki that VIZ publishes in English. The series follows Nanami Momozono, who inherits the job of local deity at a shrine along with a fox spirit. The name Tomoe appears in other works too, so the series context matters. The publisher’s official series page is the best starting point for confirming which story you are reading about.
The past arc that makes Yukiji look like the answer
Much of the emotional tension in the middle of the series happens in the past. VIZ’s official volume summaries describe the sequence like this:
| Volume | What the official summary says | Source |
|---|---|---|
| 15 | Nanami goes back in time to find the kami who cursed Tomoe. | VIZ, volume 15 |
| 16 | Tomoe is described as lovesick, and Akura-oh intends to kill Yukiji, the object of Tomoe’s affection. | VIZ, volume 16 |
| 17 | Nanami watches the past unfold while Tomoe and Yukiji suffer. | VIZ, volume 17 |
Read on their own, these volumes make Yukiji the apparent love of Tomoe’s life. That is the part of the story most readers remember, and it is the source of the confusion. The summaries describe Tomoe’s feelings for Yukiji as part of the historical plot, not as the ending of his romantic story.

The present-day answer: Nanami Momozono
The volume 18 summary resolves the relationship. According to VIZ, Nanami’s journey to the past succeeds, she finds a way to break Tomoe’s curse and save him, and Tomoe admits he has feelings for her. The summary says the two are ready to enjoy life as a couple. This is the official answer to who Tomoe ends up in love with.
How to read the two answers
The two answers depend on which timeline you mean. The cited summaries do not present two competing confirmed endings, so the distinction is one of timing:

What these sources can and cannot confirm
Every answer in this article comes from VIZ’s publisher summaries. None of them is a statement from the creator about the reveal, and this article does not present any summary as a personal quote from Suzuki. The exact wording of the question also appears as the title of a SplicedOnline article from October 2, 2024, which identifies the same series. That article supports the identification but is not the source for the plot details.
