VIZ’s description of the showdown in Vols. 33–34 says the clash threatens to destroy the world and spreads into outer space, which is the largest scale the publisher’s copy gives any Saitama fight. This is an editorial judgment based on that wording, not an official power ranking from the series’ creators.
The title promises a ranking of everyone Saitama has faced. The official pages behind this article do not provide a complete roster or a comparable strength description for every opponent, so what follows ranks the encounters that can be compared on the page. It is not a full canon list.
How the ranking is judged
The series premise, in VIZ’s own words, sets the baseline: “Life gets pretty boring when you can beat the snot out of any villain with just one punch.” Against that baseline, an opponent who forces Saitama past a single punch stands out. Each encounter here is compared on four points, using only what the official text states:
- How much effort or unusual technique the opponent draws out of Saitama.
- How far and how long the fight escalates.
- The scale of the consequences shown or explicitly described.
- Whether the opponent can withstand, redirect, or answer Saitama’s attacks.
Anime adaptations, webcomic material, and fan power-scaling are left out. Where the official text is silent on a point, this article says so rather than filling the gap.

Garou’s showdown with Saitama (Vols. 33–34)
Vol. 33: Garou’s new power
VIZ labels Vol. 33 “Saitama and Garo’s Explosive Showdown” and describes it with the line “Garo unleashes unimaginable new power.” The volume’s framing is built around Garou’s power rather than an ordinary exchange of blows, which is why this fight, not an earlier one, is the reference point for the ranking. (VIZ spells the name “Garo” in its volume copy; this article uses “Garou” and keeps VIZ’s spelling inside direct quotations.)
Vol. 34: world-scale stakes and Serious Mode
The Vol. 34 description reads: “Garo and Saitama’s clash threatens to destroy the world! The scene of their big battle even spreads to outer space… Then, when Garo unleashes a synergistic technique of the killer moves he’s learned so far, Saitama counters with Serious Mode.”

Measured against the four points above, that wording gives the ranking its weight. On escalation and consequences, the fight is described as threatening the world and moving into outer space. On effort, Garou combines the killer moves he has learned so far into one technique, so the fight draws on his full toolkit. On answering attacks, Saitama’s response is Serious Mode, which the description presents as the counter to that technique.
The description does not say how Serious Mode resolves the fight, or whether Garou’s technique lands before Saitama answers. Readers who want the outcome will need the chapters themselves.

Garou’s build-up in Vol. 26
Shueisha’s listing for Vol. 26 credits ONE as original creator and Yusuke Murata as manga artist. Its summary describes the battle of the Monster Association officers, Tatsumaki pursuing Gyoro-Gyoro, and Garou facing Superalloy Darkshine while Saitama wanders the labyrinth.
That context shows how Garou’s conflict escalates before the Vols. 33–34 fight. It is not a Saitama encounter as the summary describes it, so it does not count toward Saitama’s ranking, and the summary gives no basis for placing it against the later clash.

What the official pages do not settle
The rest of the roster
The official material used here does not name and describe other Saitama opponents in a way that supports ranking them against Garou. Rather than fill that gap with a fan list or an unverified character roster, this article leaves them off. A complete “everyone he’s faced” list would need a full pass through the manga, with each fight checked against the same four points.
Later chapters
VIZ’s chapter navigation lists chapters through at least Chapter 231 when it was checked. The official descriptions available do not say who Saitama faces in those chapters, so a later opponent could outrank Garou. This ranking cannot rule that out.
