Spoilers for Dexter: Resurrection Season 1 and announced Season 2 casting. Finale coverage names the New York Ripper as Don Framt, although some reports spell the surname Frampt. Paramount+ confirms Brian Cox will play the killer in Season 2, but its official casting guide does not settle the name’s spelling or whether it is an alias.
Who is the New York Ripper?
Finale reporting identifies the New York Ripper as Don Framt. GamesRadar+ gives the surname as “Frampt,” so the spelling is not consistent across the coverage. Paramount+’s official Season 2 guide confirms the character and actor, but does not give the killer’s personal name. The available sources also do not establish whether the name is an alias.
There is a difference in how finale coverage describes the reveal: TVLine’s recap says the Ripper’s identity remained a mystery at the episode’s end, while other coverage reports a name in a file. The clearest supported distinction is that later reporting names Don Framt/Frampt, while the official Season 2 guide confirms the role without resolving the spelling.
Who plays the New York Ripper in Season 2?
Brian Cox is confirmed to play the New York Ripper in Season 2. Paramount+ describes the character as a serial killer who terrorized New York City in the past, is now on a hiatus from killing, and continues to taunt survivors of the old spree. The official guide’s description establishes the character’s return and behavior; it does not confirm additional details about his identity.

Before the Season 1 finale, speculation focused on Detective Melvin and Blessing Kamara. Those theories are not equivalent to the finale reporting or the official Season 2 casting announcement.
Rank #2
| Candidate | Why the name came up | What is confirmed |
|---|---|---|
| Don Framt / Don Frampt | Finale coverage reports the name found in a file; reports vary on the surname spelling. | Later finale coverage names him as the Ripper. Paramount+ confirms Brian Cox plays the Ripper but does not specify the character’s personal name. |
| Detective Melvin | A CinemaBlend article published before the finale proposed him as a possible identity. | It was speculation, not the identity reported in later finale coverage. |
| Blessing Kamara | The same pre-finale discussion noted fan speculation and raised the possibility that Blessing could be a red herring. | No reviewed source establishes Blessing as the Ripper. |
| Jonah Mitchell | Fan speculation connected him to the theory. | No primary or reliable source reviewed confirms him as a suspect or the Ripper. |
The Melvin and Blessing theories appear in CinemaBlend’s pre-finale speculation article, published August 23, 2025. They should be read as guesses made before the finale, not as competing answers left equally open by the later reporting.
