They began dating in fall 2022 and announced their engagement in March 2025. A July 2026 report said they planned to marry that October, but the sources reviewed do not confirm whether the wedding took place.
How Gabby Thomas met Spencer McManes
Thomas told Vogue that she first noticed McManes through an Instagram highlight of his pizza reviews. Mutual friends had suggested they might get along. She followed him, he sent her a direct message, and they flirted online for several months before meeting in person.
Their first date was at a speakeasy, where they talked for more than three hours. Their second date was pizza. Vogue reported that they began dating in fall 2022.
How McManes proposed
McManes proposed during an offseason staycation at an Airbnb rooftop in Austin’s Travis Heights neighborhood. Thomas’s best friend and a photographer were there, and the setting included flowers. The couple had gone ring shopping at Tiffany’s in New York around Valentine’s Day; Vogue did not identify a specific ring model.
